I cant play ryzom!

Whenever i load up ryzom the same thing happens, up comes this black screen and i cannot proceed any further. I have followed all the steps yet i cant seem to get any further! How can i get logged into the game?

What operating system are you using?

Fix for this problem:

1. End the Game
2. open "run" in the Windows Start Menue
3. type cmd and press Enter
4. a DOS Window should appear, type: ipconfig /flushdns
5. restart the Game

sometimes you must reboot the PC before restatrting, but sometimes it works without.

We had this Problem on Leanon last week, something to do with a new DNS-Entry, or something like that.
I´m no expert, just translating what helped us

Not sure if you've already done this but have you made sure to setup any firewalls/routers properly? (adding ports, etc)

... and you may want to try to launch client_background_downloader_rd.exe in ryzom folder and try one of the choices there (Install and Repair)
btw, whats the title bar for Ryzom window ? missing/corrupt gamedev.bnp may give "black screen". in that case, download and extract to your ryzom folder overwriting existing files.

The black screens happens when ?
- after selecting your character and clicking play
- after the graphic progress bars has loaded or while its loading
- after puting in your logon password
- before entering your logon

First check all of your drives using chkdsk.

Then run Ryzom_recover.exe from the Ryzom directory. That should fix you up. (if it still works)

If it doesn't, backup your cfg files, remove them from the ryzom directory and try again.

If that doesn't work, uninstall, remove the directory and reinstall from scratch. It sounds like you have something corrupted in your installation.

The other (more remote) possibility is that your video drivers or DirectX installation is messed up. But that woul impact more than just Ryzom and I'm assuming that you play other games as well. You can try uninstalling and then upgrading your video drivers and DirectX. But that's more of a last resort since it has a system-wide impact.
