The other night, I was listenting to regional chat on the NA server. On who appeared to be a beta tester was relating a recent chat he had with a GM. He said the GM was very concerned over Ryzom's success as the NA registration was only about 800, and that the european servers weren't much better.

I only hope that it is not true!

That is 100% NOT true. I have no idea where you heard that but I KNOW that a GM would never say something like that. The reprecutions from me is enough to scare them let alone the senior GMs. It's almost laughable, almost.

But unfortunatly the game is still nearly unknown in Germany. I don't know how many german subscribers we have. I don't think it are much more than 1k, even less, my Fansite is the biggest one in german and got only 400 Visits per day. Every day a lot of people quit their accounts, including me. So i think 20k is a much to big number.

And don't forget, the Developmentcosts have to be payed back too.

Btw imo Nevrax made to much changes to the game, to fit it to your, the North American market.

One Word to DAoC, it is so popular in Europe, cause its playing in our old World. But lost much longtime subscribers since ToA, me too. :(

Well considering the game site was up WELL over 2 years ago, if you were one of the first to know about it only 1.5 years ago - then I guess VERY FEW people knew about it way back. :D

As far as changing the game, when were you in beta? They changed the game on a LARGE SCALE several times, even before Themis.

And finally, Themis is the NA PR company that does advertising and pays the people like Cerest and the GMs. Actually, the GMs are part of Themis as well.

Um, what MMORPG has ever died?

PRE-Ulimtia Online games are still going. For instance, I bought The Realm 7 or 8 years ago and people still play it. Lol Still at the exact same website too http://www.realmserver.com/. And look, Meridian 59 http://meridian59.neardeathstudios.com/ ... still freaking exists! I might even wish those games WOULD die.

Survive? Please. Weaker titles have survived countless Novembers.

Saga of Ryzom is just getting started.

In most MMORPGs that I've played over the past ten years it has been a point of pride for the game, to state exactly how many players there were and average population loads on a per server basis....

Any particular reason why we cannot be told how many other active accounts there are and the average population per server?

As far as surviving WoW and EQ2...even before you get to those you should also take a peak at the other games being released in November, while many folks only play online games there are many more many times over that play other games as well. Time spent on those games is time spent away from Atys, that can make it seem as if the populations are dwindling. Here is a small list of Nov Releases.

As for Wow, there is quite a bit of content in WoW that many people have not heard about or word simply has not spread concerning it. I won't go into it here, suffice it to say that when you hear people stating its the same old same old, well they have not looked very deeply into it or they are not in closed beta.

Currently WoW is getting roughly 120,000+/- 3k hits a day. The interest in the game is on a level not seen before.

EQ2 while certainly highly anticipated isn't quite on the same scale, still EQ does have a dedicated following. I personally know many a player and guild looking at returning to this next incarnation of EQ.

As for me I've already quit SoR until the patches are released, just gonna give it time and a fair chance in the long run. If the patches are not out and all that they are touted to be by Nov 22, yeah, I'll cancel.

I hope SoR does survive, I for one really enjoyed the time I played it. I will never tell anyone anything bad about the game because I did like it, but after getting into EQ2 beta, I started to realize just how much content that SoR is lacking. Now I'm in no way shape or form trying to say EQ2 is better, because they are 2 different types of MMO's. I will say though that even though they are different types they both have similarities that I feel should have been implemented in the game. Music, while I know a few people out there don't like it, I for one and I know many others feel the game just isn't complete without. This is the first MMO that I have played, (I'm not going to say I've played them all but I have played a few) that didn't have music after it went live. Tasks or quests, while SoR does have a few of these depending on whether you consider them a quest or not I guess is your defination. Decay rates, regardless of how its figured I've read lots of peoples ways of computing it doesn't matter the fact is its too fast as it is and they should've either added in a multiply factor so it would take longer or simply remove it for the time being till they got around to fixing it, since it really doesn't matter at this stage as people are gaining levels and upgrading to higher gear anyway. I for one can't stand running around naked or in my ql 50 stuff because by the time I get a couple sets of armor they are gone within a day or 2 of hunting. I have a few other things, but don't want this to be rank or anything towards ryzom. My only wish was that they would've had some of these things coming in patch 1 and 2 at live, I would really have hated to see what the open beta was like in April, I know some people say wait till they get implemented, (I have tried both WoW and EQ2 and like them both) why would I wait around for those patches to come out and possibly get delayed when I can go over to these and they already have most of these. Like I said I will never say anything bad about SoR, I just simply wish it would've launched with more content and some of the items I feel as a player should've been in it. Anyway thats all. Thanks for listening, this isn't intended as a flame or anything just expressing how I feel
