After the new patches, and trying starting the game I'd get this error and have to exit the game:
2007/12/01 16:26:44 AST client_ryzom_rd.exe block_memory.h 190: "_NAllocatedElts==0"
I tried disabling the sound at startup and I can finally log in. The weird thing is, if I enable the sound while playing, it works, and I don't crash. This never happened before the new patches, everything worked fine.
How do I get this to work properly without having to do this every time I login?

I can't give a straight answer - but sound has always been an issue with Ryzom (you'll notice the runtime crash logs all reference sound drivers). It's possible that updating your sound drivers would help, but otherwise, there may well not be a fix.
