My guess is, which is pretty likely, that the chat service is seperate from the game server. So if the chat service is still offline playing is possible just without any goodies managed by the chat system (friendslist, chatting, system messages).

that would be the ios

ios; input output service; manages static and dynamic strings, by assigning numbers to them, so that the client can cache those locally in order to save bandwidth. static strings are cached on the hard drive permanently, while dynamic strings are cached in memory temporarily. whatever service the chat system runs in, it requires the ios to be running, since afaik it makes use of the dynamic strings thingy. system info, friends list, encyclopedia, etc; all make use of the static string system.

Hmm, a fairly serious problem, even if you have Vent or some other way of communicating....Anyone even home for the dev team or will this be a problem til a new owner steps in?

Wow. On a whim I was looking to log into my alt guest account since I stopped playing a year and a half ago. Now I find out we're through more turbulent times. I was hoping to make use of the removal of the level cap since I missed that the past two times they happened. (assuming the game doesn't go away) I do miss my old character on my paid account, but her arms were too skinny and her boobs were too big.

For me, I can get to the character selection screen, but clicking "play" just fades the screen out and then back again. I CAN however create new characters, which seems strange.


And the General forums seem to be locked. (at least to a guest account like mine)

Has anyone ever made a character model viewer for Ryzom? I really want to keep an eye on my characters long after the game is gone.

I'm very curious to know how this new company has done, despite them dropping this. I have heard that often failing businesses are actually a good investment, I think for tax purposes, although I really don't understand economics.
I can't tell how the game has improved, since I haven't played since Nevrax went away. It's possible that they made some fixes to the system, but I think the game needs to be fleshed out a lot more to make competition in the MMO"RPG" market.

I'm hoping they are fixing the problem with the chat system, etc. I logged around two hours ago and poofed back out when I realized I couldn't chat. Just tried again and we usually get this after a reboot so here's hoping there's someone fixing the problems.

:S Hrm. I had been hearing the other servers were up. I tried to make a new character on Aniro and that didn't work either. Leanon seems to work though.

Hard to tell if this means anything. I suspect they're being shut down one by one. Maybe there's a new owner, but to have no news before they're shut down isn't encouraging.

... the game seems different. I forget when I played last exactly. and right from the start, I'm digging even though it says I'm too far away. But it's already started the timer, which means the node has been wasted because I can't gather enough in time. I could have sworn back in the old days you would automatically run up to the node the correct distance to dig.
I also can't quit to the character selection screen (or scenario editor) and when I did quit, it gave a Windows error.
Is this normal, or is it just that server, or something recent?
