In slightly more "concrete" news, there was some general maintenance in the data center which houses (among other things) the Ryzom game servers yesterday. As you should have already noticed, this is resulting in less laggy play all round.

Wow, sounds like some good news at last, no matter how late the hour. I am on vacation in RL and dont have access to Atys at this time. How improved is it (lag)? Would love to get back and see the Zorai homeland again, hell, I'd even settle for Slyk ripping me to shreds before I could reach the safety of the Pyromancer camp. Glad to hear the news that Atys and our wonderful community have another chance.

It was great last night, I didn't have any please waits and the game speed was almost at normal I think I was gettting about 50 fps so it was very enjoyable. Thank you for the news!

I'm sorry I offended some of you, but I'm equally sorry you reacted to me with insults and venomous remarks. I expected better of the community, and a bit of tolerance for those with different viewpoints of what's going on here.

In any case, most of my entire guild isn't going to play Ryzom anymore until they have some assurance that the game won't end all of a sudden. I suspect the members my guild aren't the only ones who feel this way -- after all, what is the point of digging hardcore for a week, leveling a new skill, working on crafting, or getting to rare spawns and bosses if the game's dying out anyway?

That's why I've said that people need news. We're still waiting, but each passing day makes even the veterans of Ryzom drift further away from Atys. Not all of them, but surely some, and many new players as well. I am watching it happen to many people, and am going through it myself.

The only things of real value you can get out of a computer game are enjoyment of the game itself, and the company of other people.
neither of which is directly limited by the lifetime or lack thereof, of the game.
