That was my first thought, then I realised it's only still in development(?).

Any MMO can (and usually does) claim it's going to have a dozen awesome new features. I'll believe it when I see it ingame. :p

Hello everyone. I really hate the idea of Ryzom ending, but was searching the web and found a game that will be released sometime in 2008, called AION. It is being released in Beta in Korea very soon. You can watch movies and see screen shots at mmorpg.com, and another game I think looks very promising is Tabula Rasa, however it is a sci-fi game, so maybe not for the die hard fantasy players. As far as Vanguard goes, have heard a rumor that they may be experiencing some difficulties as well. Have also heard more than a few people going to Guild Wars, but have not taken a look yet myself. We can still hope that Ryzom will be rescued in the 11th hour, I sure hope so.

I've always been playing CoH, for the last 3 years, and Ryzom for 2.5 years. LoTRO is also pretty good. I would not be able to recommend Tabula Rasa, unless you really like guns. I played in the beta for a while.

I am looking at POTBS and Warhammer.

Is Tabula Rasa skill based, or class based? I am going to miss Ryzom if it dies, but I still want to play something.

EDIT: nevermind, I read that it is class based :(

Personally, I've been looking forward to Huxley for forever now. An MMOFPS that plays like Unreal Tournament sounds awesome, and it will be on the PC and the 360, along with possibly the PS3. Too bad the beta is only in Korea.

Also, Freeworld looked really good, until I realized that it's in development and the developers abandoned it (kind of...read the forums). http://www.freeworldonline.com/signup.php

Other than that, I guess I'll be waiting for Unreal Tournament 3, and Mass Effect. Ryzom was pretty much the only great mmo I've ever played.

...but then we all know that Ryzom will probably end up OK...hopefully...

Mass Effect...Mmmmmmm Cant wait for that one!

People, if you are looking for another Ryzom, its not going to happen, its definately not out there at the moment, cant really see one on the horizon either.

As I have progressed more through LOTRO (only level 10 on 2 characters though, had to restart on a new server), but its one of the more habitable worlds IMO, the terrain feels alot more natural than WoW and its pleasent travelling through the areas, although I really dont like quests, some of the quests are quite interesting, with some sweet rewards for completeing a story arc.

Also grind is rewarded, both grinding mobs and quests, you get pretty cool titles and also stat rewards, (They are like .05 less chance of wounding, +1 against poison), each reward has a couple of small stat boosts, but they all add up and can be stacked and also used in conjunction with others.

Although I havent tried it yet, the crafting seems pretty interesting although it seems a bit WoW-like.

Which Ryzom guilds are present in Vanguard?
So far I know of Evolution and Team Spirit on the Halgar server.

Tabula Rasa is not skill based. But they have a "cloning" system: at every tier (level 5, level 10, etc) you can clone your character. It might end up similar to Ryzom in one important way, you always have a lowlevel skill/clone to group with new players.
