Gameforge spamming everybody?

Tonight I got several spam mails regarding Metin 2, sent by GF. They sent it to every mailaddy I used to create ryzom accounts.

As I am not playing any GF Game i guess they stole those mailaddys?

I did not disclose them to GF or opted to receive advertising by unrelated companies...

Very bad style, GF!

Edit: I thought about what we normally do with spammers... report them to spamhouse.org etc. for blacklisting. But i dont think that would help in our current situation. Would render Gameforge unable to contact most customers though. They have done wrong, but we should not do even greater damage to them. We needed to check legal issues at least before doing that.

I usually don't post much here, but today I'm very upset.

Today I received irrelevant email from Gameforge AG Germany about some of their games.

Now I know for *very sure*, that I never gave my agreement to Gameforge AG Germany that I would like to receive email about their products. I didn't even give this agreement to Gameforge SARL France. So this is unsolicited email, a.k.a. SPAM. According to EU law, sending unsolicited mass email is a crime.

That GF de uses the registration database of the now defunct Gameforge SARL to send out advertising is simply brazen.

As a german citizen, I am ashamed how this german company presents itself to the international public.

I have no explanation for how GF could even hope that anyone here would care for their other games, after the bad attitude and performance this company has presented during the last 9 months.

I know this post will get deleted / censored, so I will also post it on other forums and blogs where I can be sure that it is going to be read.

As long as you don't break the CoC/EULA, I see no reason to edit/remove your post

Havent really been on here much since Oct 4th, but do a google search for the following keywords: RYZOM GAMEFORGE LIQUIDATION, and the amount of highprofile gaming sites / forums that come up with this plastered everwhere is amazing. And the articles actually talk about GF and all their short-commings.


This is going to hurt them alot, from players either stopping or slowing down, or not starting buying the premium content for the free-web-plays; and by investors like ACCEL not comming forward and being so generous in the future....


and the fact that Ryzom has become such a negative financial drain it has to be turned off / liquidated is not really much a problem from that sense; its that everyone talks about and knows, GF's biggest failure was its lack of communications and dirty-little-secrets.

In the month leading up to this; I visited most forums of their games, including OGAME and METIN2; its the same old same old - NO RESPONSE (to forunm posts) FOR MONTHS from GF, no UPDATES (patches/content/other) for months, NO COMMUNICATION (announcements on the state of affairs, directions, etc)


Well, this is all old news now.....

I hope Ryzom is saved, and if its not saved in the next 2-3 week deadline... i hope that the CODE is stored away to be purchased later, rather then destroyed and lost forever

P.S GF - rather then sending advertising (SPAM), maybe send everyone an appology / explanation email instead..... got more chance we might end up using one of your games down the line

Are you surprised? GF Germany is spending a lot of money advertising Metin2.... MMORPG.com and MMORPGITALIA.it, just to mention a couple sites, are showing tons of Metin2 ads..... Never seen that done for Ryzom.
If just they had a better feeling on Ryzom....

I am not a GameForge fan by any means... I did not get anything from them, but I am curious why you came to the English forums to badmouth them. Or at least I was until I checked post histories.

Most game owners have a mailing list, since your from another server it makes sense a company would send you additional information on the products you might be interested in.

Getting email from a site your probably subscribed, to is not a shocker... Gameforge did many things that didn't impress me... but spamming me isn't one of them.

You think you are a very great one, don´t you. Why can´t he post these things in the english forum? Is it better than the german or the french? I don´t understand why you´re angry about him.
I was very very annoyed too. This spam was a perkiness. And also a crime. I haven´t underwritten any agreements for sending me any e-mails too.
Absolutely cynic this action from GF.

I wanted to see if there are spam mails on all communities. Can't ask in french though. Its not a german community matter but ryzom overall. Cant post in those forums though... english speaking community seemed to be the next best thing to me

I'm not subscribed to any Gameforge.de service. There has been 4 distinct email addys used, and there is no way they could have obtained them other than ryzom (gf france sarl) subscriptions.

I'm not quite sure who you address by your reply DT, however, trust me that I did not come from another server (never played anything but Aris) and never played any other GF game. Nor did I sign up to any "mailing lists" like you suggest.

Which is irrelevant anyways, since I never gave my agreement to receive emails to either GF de, GF fr, or Nevrax.
