The ease of a game, determined incrementally by each of its features, affects the type of community it attracts and fosters. Easy games have worse communities, and challenging/difficult games have more mature communities, generally.theswamper wrote:Besides, please explain to me how making these utterly optional changes would lessen someone else's gaming experience?

I get that you all enjoy this game immensely. However, if this game needs anything, it needs more players, and thus more $$ for the developers.
Something has to change! You might love the game exactly as it is but it clearly needs something to attract more players. I put down my opinion of what that is.
You might not agree with my ideas, but sticking your head in the sand and yelling "NO! Don't change anything!" will not help the game you love so much.
Anyway, I did enjoy the game for a while, loved the community, and feel no animosity towards anyone. Best of luck, all.

The problem with that m8, is that Ryzom would be Ryzom no longer. I would rather see Ryzom dissapear than it become a WoW-clone... I do agree with you that we need more playerstheswamper wrote:I get that you all enjoy this game immensely. You stated your opinion, other people stated theirs. No need to get abusive and accuse people of "sticking their heads in the sand". These forums contain heaps of ideas and strongly indicate that people love the game enough to express themselves.theswamper wrote: I put down my opinion of what that is.

My personal opinion is that it isn't the style of the game that was at fault, it was the near total lack of promotion. Look at WoW, a cute little kiddies game but it has huge market share, not because of it has an advanced gaming engine or that the quest givers carry neon signs over their heads, but because of years of quality marketing.
Yes, Ryzom has some issues that developers need to look at, I doubt there is a MMO out there that doesn't. But all it would take to make Ryzom mainstream is for a large well established company to pick up what's already done and put the big money behind it that it's always deserved. At least that's the way I see it, it's just an opinion *shrugs*.
