I'm not on the EE server myself, but they're active nonetheless.
Still, if it is your wish to play on Windemeer, the US server, I think you have a chance to migrate your account there within one week after subscription.
To make sure better send a mail to the support team or wait for an official answer here. I don't want to seal your fate should I be wrong

I have been playing with that thought, I have to admit, though. But while being in Beta testing I came to fully respect the maturity and cooperativeness of my current community to the extent that I stayed where I live .
I'm on Leanon with the German community.
And, I'm convinced that it'll be that way for you, too, whether you opt for Arispotle or Windermeer.

When choosing one of the Euro servers you should be careful, then. Only Arispotle is English speaking. Leanon is purely German, Aniro purely French, and Windermeer should be mainly English as well. It might well occur that Spanish or Italian communities group on either Arispotle or Aniro, so don't be surprised if a few communicate in other languages there, still I don't really know about that.
And hey, you're communicating with somebody speaking German and French already .

Well I've gone with the US community for now. Maybe changing in the future. I now see you can access ALL forums regardless of your server or community, which is good.

So am I right in thinking there are four servers? Two US and two Euro?

I think its 1 US (a more powerful cluster, supposedly) and 3 Euro, split into the 3 main languages (*dives away from all the Spanish and Italian bashing*), each of them developing individually.
True, you can read and post in any forum of any community (did already, except French 'cause mine isn't really fluid to the point).
It's a shame that, indeed, there are some who don't care a lot about the most international language, but who am I to judge upon them?
Still, to adress the starter of this thread again, I'd make sure by mailing the support team about it as long as no official posts here...

I would look at your play hours ... and make the decision based off of those. From 2 - 6am PST the US server is nearly a ghost town. Definitely take this into account!
