Teleporting, portals, packers and mounts

Post by zantsuken »

Preface: I am aware that I must actually trek to a remote town/camp before I can use a portal or teleport ticket.

1) What is teleporting? Is that when you buy a ticket at a camp and can use it to return there later? I presume this ticket can be used wherever you are?

2) What are portals? Is their function similar to teleporting tickets, except they are objects found in town? Does each major town have one that can take you to any other town you have visited before?

3) From what I have read, I can have a total of 4 animals (packers and mounts). How do the stables work? Can you see everybody else's animals in them, or are they instanced?

4) Is it true that packers and mounts can go through a portal, but can't follow you if you use a teleport ticket?

5) Where do you purchase food for the animals? In the stable, or at some other NPC shop?

Sorry for so many questions. I want to finish the newbie quests before I go to the mainland. But I still want to know what it is like there.

Hi and welcome!

1) Every zone (area surrounded by white dotted lines on map) on the mainland has two Teleport Ticket Alters. One Kami, one Karavan. (Zones with cities may have more.) Assuming you meet the fame requirements, if any at this particular alter, you can buy a teleport ticket, or pact. It costs 10000 dapper and is one time use. You can use any teleport ticket in your bag at any time, from any location. There's a short countdown and then you are instantly transported back to the location you bought it. After use the ticket is destroyed, and it's highly suggested you buy a new one while you're at the alter.

2) Portals are big spinning glowing clouds that represent tunnels between the major lands. Visiting one gains it as a respawn point for your character. Stepping through one transports you to the other side of the "tunnel" which is in the other land. They are not in towns. There are Ring Terminials in the capitals that are used for accessing Ring Scenarios- but they have nothing to do with respawn or transportation around the mainland.

3) You may have up to 3 packers and one mount. Animals that are in the stables are invisible. You can access the inventory of your animals in the stable any time you are near that particular stable.

4) That is correct. If you want to move your animals around you need to travel on foot (or on your mount). They can not be teleported at all.

5) The stable boy where you purchase the animals is also where you buy food for them. Feeding your animals is only important if you are running them around. If they are sitting still, they never get hungry. If thtey are running around, and you don't feed them, they don't die or anything serious like that. A hungry mektoub merely stops running and resorts to a very slow walking pace until fed.

Hope you're enjoying youself!

Hi there,

1) yep you are spot on, also you shoud note a teleport ticket is a one use item, once you arrive at your teleported destination you need to purchase another ticket to replace the one you just used.

2) Portals are at the edges of the regions that teleport between continents, eg. Burning Desert -> Verdant Heights. In the lakelands of tryker there are also some portals that transport you between regions, eg level 150 area -> lvl 200 area. No portals are found in towns, some are quite close though.

3) Packers and mounts can be given to stable boys to look after, this is a free service, you can't see inside stables to view others packers. Some people park thier packers near stables and in lakes also. You can take packers in/out of stables whenever you want at a click of a button. Stables are a good safe home for your packers.

4) That is true, packers cannot follow when teleporting, but will follow you through a portal.

5) Food for mounts is bought from the stableboy, who sells concentrated bales of food in varying sizes/prices. Food can be store in the mounts own small storage bag. He will eat it automatically when hungry whilst riding him. You dont need to feed packers, just mounts.

Enjoy your stay :)

Can you ride a mount and have three packers follow you around simultaneously?

I sounds like moving all of your "stuff" from town-to-town, could take a while if you ever needed to do it.

Someone hasn't taken their packers out for much exercise, hmm?
Packers do indeed get hungry and stop running if you run them and don't feed them.

Do packers and mounts both have a separate storage container for food that they eat from automatically? Or do you have to put the food in the main storage area?

Do mounts offer any additional storage for a few items, or do they only have the food storage area? Something like saddlebags?

Food must be stored in normal animal inventory.
Mounts do have a little bit of space, but not much- 100 bulk.
Packers have 500 bulk.
Animals will automatically eat food in their inventory when the hunger meter drops to zero.
Also, while animals are stabled, the stable boy offers a service to feed them all to max for a fee.
Unfortunately, you can not force an animal to eat form its inventory out in the wilderness if it is not completely hungry.

LoL, too true...
Except I think you mean Thesos.

Suppose I should say they're "not supposed" to have anything to do with travel.
