Past and now, not even close to the same. The amount of respect between the factions was huge. We'd RP events together and lay the smackdown to the kitin as needed without begrudgingly standing side by side. It's what we do now that matters to the new players, our past is only a tidbit about character and experience with certain Ryzom politics.

Infinity did not make attacks at 3AM on a workday, they setup an afternoon attack and dared us to show up for our beatings. Their organisation, player skills and class are unmatched to this day. Sure some players are still here (and typically still my IG enemy), but it's how we conduct ourselves now.

I was reponding to a specific point, that being my stance on the forums.

As to the direction this response took, from my PoV, one side complains about inconvenient times, the other side says it's because that side did this or that. More Hatfields and McCoys stuff.

IC I will call them names and such but still ask them what's up in the game. It is a game, always has been...

A toon's character is a refelction of a player's character. If a toon is calling names, then that's a refelction on the player. If a toon is dropping aggro on afk players, then that's a refection on the player. When I observe such behavior, I make it a point to avoid interaction with these players.

If the forums weren't always a matter of being the one who makes the most noise wins, we'd all be better off. I see the forums as a mini-game, the folks on Aristople are not the ones I see on the forums.

I don't see anyone winning anything. GF has shown it is not going to be responsive to anything in the forums. I know it's become popular to complain about the CSR incident but frankly certain controls should have been in place before this plan was begun. As a person who has been a volunteer in numerous positions (Little league, Scouting, Professional Societies) I know it's a thankless job and appreciate the effort the volunteers in Ryzom put forth. Personally however, I feel the volunteer system concept is, in and of itself, flawed.

Other than this instance, I don't see GF responding to anything on the forums so where's the win ?

Hanging out with someone and helping them, chatting and getting to know each other, telling jokes or passing on information, or whatever, is never a waste of my time.

Twina is serious about the possibilty of getting AoD in two months, even sans cats. I've seen it done actually, and getting over 200 in a melee skill and healing at the same time. I asked the homin involved "why", and she said because it was fun to level up fast. "Cool" I said, "but what will you do when you've mastered everything you want to do?" She said she'd start another toon and do it again. She used some cats but typically ran out very quickly and got most of those levels without. What she DID do was team up with knowledgable people (from both factions, btw) who helped her immensely - even if they weren't getting much XP themselves.

But for me, getting max XP per minute is waaaaaaaay down the list of priorities. So 9 months on I have no masters, and may not for a long time yet. I typically look first for friends to hang out with, whatever they might be doing. If that doesn't work out, I may go exploring, or I might meet someone new. Or I might stand around the stables or dig spot doing nothing but talk in uni. Then when I get around to it I might dig some or craft some or go solo hunting. Or not. My levels have come in fits and starts, when doing a bunch of soloing, or when I happened to hook up with a good team, or whatever. The ding happens when it happens.

Just like to say something there about the leveling up real fast aspect. I may have been here a short time - but have spent many many hours online. Out of those hours it is obvious that I will level a fair amount. I have made many friends - from both factions and as a part of my day on Atys in general - I spend most of it just sat around chatting.

There is nothing more I like than chatting - and everyone who knows me knows this (you can count the amount of times I need rezzing and team due to me not paying attention and being in tells/chat). I find one of the best ways to get to know people is by hunting with them.

Yes I am close to AoD - but in all truth even though i am reasonably new here - could have had the title a while back and probably the axe master too. The reason why I have not? As I say I spend a lot of time not doing anything and chatting, but other reasons are that I go out of my way to help others and heal out of team, stun mobs for them or generaly just be around if they get introuble - where the mobs are too low for me to gain xp. Thats how I get to know people - both from hunting and helping people. Ryzom is a game for all kinds of people - some like craft/harvest more than others and others like hunting better. I generaly dont like dig too much so i work on skills that interest me.

I know the latter part of your comment is not aimed at me - I am just saying that just because someone levels fast in short time periods (although those time periods may be many more hours than you play in months) does not mean they do not get to know the lands/people or ryzom in general. I love to go on mob hunts and explore as many regions as possible - and I still have so much too do. The day I have no skills left to work on will be a day many years from now.

Too many people think leveling is a bad thing - but each person gets from a game exactly what they want. I get pleasure from leveling and even more enjoyment from my friends - that alone will keep me going

its one tactic to multi declare and show up only for 1 attack.. (diversionary tactic)
or choose the worst times for your enemy.. (night time 'stealth' strike)


OR

"carpet bomb" attack...(the OP version of hiroshima/nagasaki)

sheduale attacks for 1 OP every 2 hours. for 16 hours +

and then "randomly" pick one (or 2 ...) to go hit during that time

could also just randomly take a couple pot shots for half a round here and there to make sure the defence cant be slacking too much. really 'waste' their time / Tps ect...



its a perfectly valid tactic, within the game mechanics of course.

so no-one should complain at it
