Too much emphasis on them in the game.
Anything that makes you "beat" the game in weeks is wrong. MMOs should have a lifespan measured in years, not weeks.

issue is, ryzom isnt exactly growing as it is. so right now we have in place a system that makes it where people can play the game for as short as time possible. that has the side effect of causing issues (ive read the forums before i got here. cats were alright flamed and fought over) .setstyle wrote:Unfortunately, the greatest reward from outposts (with a few exceptions if one values certain OP materials greater) are the catalyzers. Removing them would remove the greatest incentive for attacking/holding the active outposts and essentially undermine whatever importance they have.
I'd much rather see actual development -- rebuilding the civilizations, if you will -- linked to outposts rather than production of experience crystals. Implementing those little devils, instead of opening the door for long-term goals, seemed like the easy way out for Nevrax.
I can see where your coming from heredanolt wrote:I think .... The answer for the cat problem is not to remove them, the answer is to make them irrelevant, obsolete, to make them have less value. This can be achieved by raising the level cap and/or creating a mechanic where everyone has access to them.

The major problem as I see it, is that Atys has become a comfortable place. It is predictable. It is mapped. It is safe. It is becoming boring. Removing cats address none of those issues.

so far the vision has been updated stamina and being able to stack sap crystals. if the vision is 'dont make new content for ryzom' we are right on course.danolt wrote: Future development should be based on the way the game is now and a vision of the future.
