Will SoR survive November?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

I don't really thing any of the new crop of games are going to suck away any players who wouldn't have left for other reasons.

I haven't played EQ2, but have played tons of WoW. It's a very different game and is going to appeal to a very different type of player. We may see our population dip when it comes out, but if they like SoR then they will be back.

The other night, I was listenting to regional chat on the NA server. On who appeared to be a beta tester was relating a recent chat he had with a GM. He said the GM was very concerned over Ryzom's success as the NA registration was only about 800, and that the european servers weren't much better.

I only hope that it is not true!

Miy
I would take that with a grain of salt.

Regardless of whether or not it was fabricated, there are at least 100 players on each of the 4 regions on the NA server in primetime. Keep in mind that many of us have bought the box in the last month and are not yet paying for it on a monthly basis.

Box/Download sales have definitely hit 5k worldwide.

Why is everyone so ready to call the death knoll of this game? It hasn't even been out a month! If it's because we all enjoy it and hope the best for it, don't worry, it will be around!

It's not... just speculation. I'm all about optimistic speculation :)

But, lessee.... if 100 players are on per primary region during primetime, then let's call that 400 players online. Let's assume there's double that amount in subscribers, at least. So 800 per server * 4 = 3200 subscribers.

A lot players have bought the game and quit already. Surely there's X number buying per day.... conservatively, just a guess.

Maybe too optimistic, sure, but it seems a reasonable guesstimate to me.

Again, I understand Trykers are the minority population but I have never seen 100 online in Trykerville. Maybe in Noobville at start. I dont think the game will go underby January, but I do think the November effect will at least halve the already diminished population-More if patch 1 doesnt fix Tryker and doesnt meet expectaions. Just as a side thought, I know I have read there is guild vs. guild competion down the line in SoR, didnt the tryker issue put them at an almost permanent disadvantage?

I see lots of trykers running around and escaping from trykerland :p

I don't think you will find most of them in tryker lands though
