Gonna agree on several levels:

1. The patch issues - Players have made efforts to report system data and offer possible reasons as to what maye ba causing the problems. GF action....move to technical section of forum, no input.

2. The forum issues - Threads have been closed and deleted with instruction given that these issues should not be discussed in the forums. However it seems that players have concluded this is the only way to get GF's attention. I have contacted GF directly by e-mail both to report CoC Violations and ask policy questions related to my son's participation in game and have yet to receive a response.

3. The development page hasn't been touched in what 18 months ?

Let me play devil's advocate and list some of the ideas that are probably going thru peep's minds. Has GF given up on Ryzom ? Is GF preparing a new game based upon the RAID engine and using Ryzom and its player base as a testbed for this new game's features (i.e background downloader) ?

Spot on mate.

Players need feedback, we dont even have senior members of the support team on klients any more, we used to know what was going on even if it was stupidly slow.

Is the plan to reduce cost and just let ryzom as it is at the moment with no prospect of thing improving?

CS issues regarding player Tickets and Investigation of Harassment are NEVER appropriate for the forums. All they lead to is counter harassment and trial by the community vigilantes. The more severe cases require more investigation before actions can be taken, and inflaming the issues by trial by forum only complicates matters by taking time and energy away from the issue at hand by redirecting manpower to deal with the additional fallout generated by 'trial by forum'.

Privacy dictates that we not disclose the results of investigations and the disciplinary actions taken against player accounts. As much as you (the community) would like to know 'the dirt', it is not necessary nor is it the policy of GameForge to disclose this information.

Feel free to PM me with the questions you have regarding how the policies relate to your son.

There is the key that the CSR's have to use common sense in. DT has been mocked by player names for a long time, that's water off a duck's back. It's not rude or anything else, defamatory possibly but no biggie. It's the actions that player may have done, that may be a rule violation easier to pin down... Names have never been taken too harshly and unless vulgar normally only get changed by a CSR. The CSR team doesn't have the time or manpower to spin their wheels chasing down YOUR 10 violations that are not really violations. Forum trials do not make a player guilty... but his/her actions may.

In response to your reply:

The reason Boroshi chose to lock the thread rather than just delete it was based upon the fact that there had already been several threads locked and or deleted along with PM s sent to the appropriate people regarding the issue.

I will not disclose the status of the support incident as per policy.

Realize that in a perfect world we would never have issues like that, but since we do not live in a perfect world we have to deal with such problems. Boroshi chose to show some CM discretion in allowing the post to remain up but locked in the hopes that it would make people understand WHY the other posts were locked. Unfortunately it seems that his choice of words was taken to mean something more than the intent. Ironically, the whole Community OP/harassment/forum flamewar cycle we have gone through this past several days was a result of pretty much the same thing.

Bottom line is this: lots of people did a lot of very un nice things. Many people got involved directly and indirectly and did more un nice things. Some of the not nice things will result in varying levels of disciplinary action. So rather than a couple people getting in trouble we end up with several people getting in trouble because they chose to jump in and become vigilantes. This type of scenario is self sustaining until the chain is broken. What Boroshi did was a good faith effort to stop the problem before it got even MORE out of hand. Now its time for the community to take their part of the responsibility and stop the madness.
