Hi Everyone,

I open-beta'd this Ryzom way back in 2004, then played from release into early Jan before taking a 2+ years break and returning (on a new fresh account);

HOWEVER, I do remember this as an event:-


Dyron (and others) were overrun by kitins; we the homins had to speak with various NPC and accept missions, which were either slaughter the kitns, dig the kitin lavae, or the most enjoyable to me... craft armour.

When armour was crafted under an event mission; more gaurds would spawn, fighting back the kitins.

Iirc, this lasted weeks; before Dyron (were i was based), finally regained control and drove the kitins back.



So all you old timers out there; wouldnt you like that kinda stuff back?
And those who came afterwards, i am sure you would enjoy this

haha ! I do remember this also and was SOOOO much fun!!
Was not only in dyron was in thesos also!
and we were all noobs then , everyone had to come together for this event!
Was such a great time hehe. Even getting in the water didnt help as they had flying aggro on us also lol.
THIS would be a great event if the CRS's could pull it off again

It was moments like that, which caused SoR to never leave my mind.
I came back after 2 years break in hope Ryzom was alive and kicking and i could continue with such amazing experiences.


I shall never forgot those first few months... when 50 homins were required to trek between lands,


When Mages out leveled amp crafters


When every days there was a tale of new discoveries.

I remember the kitin invasion well and it didnt go down well at the time and was widely condemmed as crap. Rose tinted glasses we look back with tho

1. dyron was mobbed with kitin and the fighting went on for a week, cue loads of posts "hey I want to dig dammit and this event is boooooring"
2. clicking (nuff said for anyone there)
3. rewards were better than crafted items cue "I'll never craft again nevrax you screwed me"
4. ppl complaining about the length of event
5. wasnt the tryker event in BB, cue trykers complaining about silly swims (tp's were not working at the time iirc)

I love events mostly, but some were such botched jobs it was unbelievable

how many of the curent people would leave in comparison to how many would sub just to be part of such an event again.

it doesnt really matter much anyway as this time it would take place in the ring, thats very easy to ignore.

I'm not against events viper, just some ppl seem to remember them fondly when at the time denounced them as a bag o'crap

this all sounds great, we all have to remember, like Jacko said in another post, my forum persona is much more abrasive than my IG one. we could easily all get together for player event, IG there doesn't seem to be near the bad blood as there is here on forums, which many just use to vent a lil anger. mabey even OP fights could be a little less harsh here if after an attack victory, losing people weren't hell bent on revenge. gotta remember revenge is a terrible terrible thing and if the losing side could just congratulate the winning side and then start over fresh for next battle, then we could be the atys of old again.
but as long as the losing side, be they kami or kara, think that if they've had an OP taken they must plot horrible revenge, then there will always be bad blood here. (just plot the next attempt at winning)

so in short what i would do is go have a drink and enjoy the fact that i'm here at all. we almost all actually get along very well in game, just gotta remeber that revenge will not solve losing only make more forum wars

given the enthusiasm for pvp of part of the population, given that the team bug should be fixed by now, a semi-event could be if we revived the civilisations lore a little (just a little, hold your yawn *grin*) and have borders squirmishes, occupied cities, riots among pyr students...
