LOL. The trick is not to tell your boss your not coming in because of an outpost attack

Re: a very possible future for the english server
cats determine who gets the 250 players the fastest, that simple. the more masters you have at ops, the better chances you have.audrimas wrote:Most stupid thing i ever heard. If your only goal is to get cats and if you cant lvl up without them you better leave now, Ryzom isn't for you.
most guilds without an op are part of an alliance.audrimas wrote: Many guilds lost their OP, many guilds never had any and still keep fighting. I dont think Ryzom has so many losers who will quit after all OPs goes to one side.
or some will join their first guild based off being given 1 million dappers, cats and gear.audrimas wrote: Many new ppl have no idea about cats, about OPs, about politics. In time they will discover whats going. I dont think many will leave guild and friends and join another guild just to get more cats. Its stupid really.
quote from jared96
"In Ryzom, any advantage is reinforced over time. An advantage in 250 cats means one side can bring it's recruits to full strength in a much shorter amount of time. If we as little street kids could figure out a way to make their games more balanced, challenging and fun....I would think that a game company or even the players themsleves could come up with an idea or two."

Say how many months experience in leading a guild in such a heavy underdog situation do you have again? Why don't you come over the fence and try? Might be an eyeopener.
You know that kind of talk is cheap when sitting on a pile of cats as you have done from the beginning.
I stated that the KA has 15 of the 28 outposts, not 28 of 28. You have quoted out of context my reply to the poster pointing out the KA has proportionally more high level outposts (but still not "most" or "all" of the total number). It is true that the KA has more high level outposts but as I have said, the attacks on most of those were reactionary in nature. It's been extremely hard to mobilize the KA unless they're reacting to something, and quite often the KA will react aggressively and in force only forum flame wars as well as repeated attacks during EU/NA working hours. Not necessarily the best way to motivate attacks, but it is the reality.
The distribution of outposts right out of the gate actually didn't favor the KA at all... but you're right, it does now and that is a result of the member guilds reliably coming together to help each other.

made me LOL. First 2 you made 24/7 on cats. Then you posted something like cats are not for newbs they are foraudrimas wrote: If you read my post with /brains on you will understand i didnt need cats anymore after lvling almost 5 masteries without(almost).
for people have masteries to gain second and third and fourth and fifth master quicker.
I assume cats comming outa you ears and your nose and you cannot remember or think clear anymore.
Quality over Quantity
As a direkt reply to the openers worries.
A Game like Ryzom determines itself not only by its "contend", of wich we have arguably anough or not
, it very much relyies on its Players too.
So if truly one sie would be so dumb as to completely anihilate the other faction, I wouldn´t see much of a future for that particular game.
The problem I think here is, and that does not mean I´m shifting blame here, that it is entirely possible to do just that in Ryzom.
With enough effort and enough lack of it on the other side, one side could very well erradicate the other.
BUT, what to do then?
Lord it over a land of ashes?
What good is ulitame power if there is noone to fight for it?
One side would own all the OPs and all the good stuff, old players of the other side would leave in frustration and new ones would be either extremely hard pressed to gain a foothold, or wouldn´t even try.
So what then with all the PvP?
Attack each other? If there is noone left to fight?
Resort to "infighting"?
Go back to what the Outopsts are initially described as Guild vs. Guild?
Will one guild of the winnig faction then try to push all others from the OPs?
Just to keep the "Fun" PvP going?
Is it even FUN then anymore?
Or is ist just a Phyrrus Victory?
Ulitamtely hollow, in showing the shortsightedness of the "winners".
A Game like Ryzom determines itself not only by the quantity of the players of one faction, but also, and to a much larger extend, by the quality of all its players. Including those on the "winning" and "losing" side.
The winners should be able to show that they can think of other things then just greed for materials and "winning".
And the "losers" should show that they´re good sports and will try to do their best to turn the tables.
Whining about unfairness isn´t in any way productive. It only makes you the laughing stock of the Community and takes away unnassasary energy from fighting "the good fight"
While I myslef do not PvP I am able to understand the fascination and motivation others get from it and I am able to see that it has become an essential part of the game.
I´m willing to bet most of you see this too.
So why destroy this part of the game by making it´s point obsolete?
Because the point of PvP is not "winning" and then lording it over an almost empty Server.
It is FUN!
Pure and simple.
Fun in embarking on fights against a worthy enemy.
Fun in easuring your "skill" against another human beeing.
Not some pixels on a screen.
Some strange folks do seem to forget that these other figures they are "killing" do have humans comandeering them from somewhere else in the world. These few poor souls that like to grieve and gank (as their twisted idea of fun), well those fools are simply lost and not even worth considering,
but the bigger part of you the "true PvPers" that like to PvP as Sport and FUN, should be able to think of the consequences of their doing and try at least a little, to keep their own fun running.
As long as people on both sides do not forget that an MMORPG and especially Ryzom, is a Game that is played "with" other people and not "against" other people, the game won´t stop and the Fun for all can go on.

haha, lol, you have no idea what you talk about, btw do you play on same server as me?pavmelas wrote:made me LOL. First 2 you made 24/7 on cats.

Yeah, thats what i think, if you want to learn 20 masteries better do it with cats unless you have fun doing same grind over and over. After i got my sword mastery it was enough for me to participate in OP/PvP/Boss hunts/Treks. All other masteries i got just for fun. Yes i used cats when i got them but i never joined any Community OP to get them more and for free and never asked anyone for cats so shush.pavmelas wrote:Then you posted something like cats are not for newbs they are for

Re: a very possible future for the english server
Well said!! Kitin are the enemy and reclaiming our civlization is our goal.Get rid of cats.It was possible to lvl to 250 without them. Neverax took the easy route instead of rebalancing xp to draw a larger clientele. Instead they created animosity over control of cats. This lead to our present us vs. them mentality. Some weren't here but I know many remember how great Atys was pre outposts-Kilmoyaku wrote:You are lucky to find it good now cos most long last players don't. You never had the chance to experience Atys when it was still cats free and inhabited by a loving community whose only trouble use to come from one guild which had the advantage over Alliances to seek fun and not power.
This game definitely isn't nearly as fun and great as it use to be and first bad move wasn't GF's but Nevrax imo : introducing large scale PvP and running away from lore's main line : GETTING RID OF KITINS !
Re: Quality over Quantity
until you have to have to play against people to be able to play with people better. aka Cats. Op battles are resource battles , if they were not fought over cats i would bet the numbers fighting would drop alot.acridiel wrote:As long as people on both sides do not forget that an MMORPG and especially Ryzom, is a Game that is played "with" other people and not "against" other people, the game won´t stop and the Fun for all can go on.

Re: a very possible future for the english server
People need to understand this is a game. The game ends when you defeat your opponent.
Take the example of checkers. Most understand that as you play, you are able to "king" your pieces, which makes them considerably more powerful. Would the game last very long, or be very entertaining for both sides, if one player started each round with all his pieces "kinged"? Sure, you can easily win, but how much enjoyment do you think they other player will get? Will he come back to play with you again? No, eventually he will grow tired of losing and move on to another game.
Likewise, with the distribution of Cats and Op Mats stacked against one side, how long will the other side keep returning? Its quite clear based upon the replies here that this issue is not understood, or acknowledged by both sides.
Also, lets be mature about this. Its a valid concern some players have and there is no reason anyone should be here labeling them as whiners or complainers for voicing them.
