I like to think of it in £'s then it's only 400..bargain lol. Spent most of it on daft stuff like all skills/stats reset cards because I couldn't decide which class I like most. Also bought a blue horse for a stupid amount of money but I still don't regret itfiach wrote:JEEZUZ!!! 800? I know you were higher level than me, but 800? I guess I would have spent 40 on HS and Skill reset cards for me and pets, but thats it, the game is OK....ugly but ok LOL, wouldn't spend money on it![]()

There'd be tons of moaning if this was ever implemented, god know's there is on the LC forums about greedy, grasping Aeria bosses etc. But at the end of the day even the people initially moaning about it would spend the occasional amount of money....I guarantee it !! The amounts paid by the few would easily triple your current income from every sub being paid so far. If it would help bring new content and the return of old and new players then I think it would be well worth it.
It would have to be very carefully thought out to fit into this unique game, but I bet it could be done.

Re: Paid content
Does "weapon weight" ring any bells? That shouldn't have taken a lot of effort either, but look what happened. I no longer have any clue what the devs are doing with their time, but I'd be rather upset to learn that all of it was wasted on such trifles as a new cat system.viper579 wrote:what content? it doesnt take alot of effort to make a system for buying cats.

I love ryzom and atys, but truly if they introduced a item mall in any way i would leave...I can see such things in games that are called FTP and use the IM's to create a good amount of profit and use the FTP as a excuse for lack of content and such.... Just for me it would ruin everything and anything ryzom ever was for me.
The only thing i think that GF should charge for those is name changes and server transfers... truly if the game had a large population of 4 to 6 servers like a mid size MMO they would be losing alot of time and cash just doing name changes for people.

Thanks everyone, it was very interesting to read. Reading your insight made me change my mind...
Thinking about it, having an item mall for cats, mats and useful equipment would probably change the community a bit (in a bad way too). The generous atmosphere might vanish if there's a price on what you normally give away freely.
Purely cosmetic stuff; LA hat (with no stats), a pet yubo or a new type of mount/packer with exactly the same speed/inventory space as mektoubs would not alter the game at all.
Would it make the game better? More diverse maybe, but it wont take too long until nobody cares bout that Gubani mount. Adding them as a long term goal for, say, 100% racial fame would be another matter...
I'd still buy the "Ryzom Planet 2 Expansion" though!

Re: Paid content
Extra premium content is great but.. not for Ryzom. I can afford to spend lavishly but not on a game nonetheless the following might be worth considering.
Further develop Ryzom Ring
- Advanced Dialog with choices and what not, like in mainlands.
- Multiple choice of missions "Mission Window" like in Mainlands.
- Missions that actually get registered in the journal.
- Some option for coding in events & actions... a simple allowance of variables, arrays, while loops and basic logic operations.
- Hosting scenarios & regions on Ring Servers.
- (Hosted) Qualified CSR approved scenarios & Regions.
- Buy'able distributable rewards for Qualified scenarios & Regions.
Ok what I'm getting to is, the qualified scenarios can distribute premium rewards as long as players earn it, the qualification process is there to ensure that no one cheats their way in to obtaining items including the creator of the Region/Scenario. Here the generous spenders can distribute an array of goodies to the player base. Additionally paid hosting of scenarios will too open up a good stream of income for GF.
In-fact I have a huge plan written out in a 30 page PDF with illustrations, but will Gameforge accept the help of a player? Not at all I believe, no response.
I'm also working on a "Ryzom 2" fun demo using NeL featuring physics engine, player interactivity with the environment, tp animations etc... which would go a lot smoother if only they co-operate, still no response here either.
Ok back on the topic at hand, from what said and done I really don't mind paying double a month if it brings progress and development to the game.

Re: Paid content
Just the thing is most item malls start off being completely cosmetic till the owners decide to slip in more and more stuff for they can continue to make a great deal of money.... but i guess they also add more game breaking items cause the players ask for the things... so they basically see the money waving in front of their face and do what what it takes to get it...ulani wrote:Thanks everyone, it was very interesting to read. I would pay twice as much per month to play but would never pay extra for things in game.
