the boosts are based on a sinusoidal curvature, in that a certain amount of balance is required.

if u have a total average of 50 and one stat at 55, then it might end up as 60
if u have a total average of 50 and one stat at 60, then it might end up as 64
if u have a total average of 50 and one stat at 65, then it might end up as 68
if u have a total average of 50 and one stat at 70, then it might end up as 70

this why useing all basic mats will actually pull down the total possable boost when useing supremes, and why choice+a little excel works for sups - when aiming for specific stats being high.

if that makes sense.

one other thing is that with plans where some of the mats dont affect the entire balance ie, amps. that the linked stats (durability/sapload/lightness) are more key. (the avergaes are based mostly on the stats wich share a greater proportion of the mats within the plan)

this is why 2 grips say, buo and annete both in fine grade can have completely different effects on the magic focus.

ei one has its peack in dodge, and the other lightness
the ligtness stat at 79 (or whatever it is on fine grade) will be reduced by 1/3 of its effect as far as the total balnce within the plan as it is mixed with the other stats from the focus and shaft.

where as dodge from annete has a 50% effect due to the dodge stat only being shared with the bark.

i hope someone understands what im trying to say lol

however, while buo might work to give say, pha focus upto 96/96, and annete only 92/92

it might be possable to have 3 annete + 2 shu and get 96/96 still - but with slightly different secondary stats.

the same goes for shafts too.

this is handy to know when ur lacking in the usual mats needed, (one extream i actually used 6 different grips and 4 different shafts to make a 97/97 zun amp once for a guildie)

Nice thread :)
This is the one subject I rarely hear anything about in Ryzom.
I craft ammo myself and switch the priority between damage and volume a lot...still can't decide which benefits me most :D

Why the [self-censor] is it taboo to talk about crafting? With an almost infinite range of recipe combinations, what exactly is given away by sharing some as examples to demonstrate principles? Where would we be if scientists and engineers and artists and tradesmen hid their discoveries and creations from everyone? Flat earth, illiteracy, barbarism. Without Newton, whither Einstein or Hawking?

To me, (granted I am just barely starting to learn a bit about crafting) this smacks of nasty immature elitism. Or just plain selfishness. Please let me know if there really is a legitimate reason. So far all I've heard is "don't spill the beans, wink wink nudge nudge".

Due to the hours I have available to play, I almost never have access to someone who can teach me anything. I solo almost all the time. OK, so I can live with the fact that it takes me 8 times as long to learn anything because I'm reinventing the wheel in everything I do. But hiding even the basic principles of a thing from me just makes me angry.

With that said, thank you to those of you who are willing to share a bit. I hope this thread will contribute to the ability of everyone to learn.

I'm not asking for a free step-by-step paint by numbers manual. Just teach me the basics so I can do something better than grind with whatever mats I happen to have without a clue as to what I'm doing.

Bringing recipies to forums is a bad idea, most of my fun was just finding the recipies, could be in my lab 8 hours a day lots of months trying different mixes :)

Thinking i was being clever, the AMP was made from 100% Choice mats, including ZUN Amber (everyone talks about).... to my dissapoint ment I got a 60/60 AMP.....

A peep i met ingame once told me, and this post confirms - a key to AMP crafting (as per the sample of this post), is that the Amber must be higher quality then the other components.
Yes this is very true, also was Xtar said! For amps what seems to be working so far is:

Basic Grip + Basic Shaft + Choice Magic Focus
Basic Grip + Choice Shaft + Excellent Magic Focus (or Choice Grip + Basic Shaft)
Choice Grip + Choice Shaft + Supreme Magic Focus

Of course you need to tweak here and there abit, add a Fine where a Basic was etc, but that's the fun isn't it :D

For your Zun disappointment, try to use basic buo fiber and some loot like bones ;) The Maximum outcome is imho all 68%, which is pretty cool for choice...

Another good trick is to replace materials, as Xtar mentioned each material has an average value they are as following:

20% Basic
35% Fine
50% Choice
65% Excellent
80% Supreme

This means if you lack choice for example you can replace it with fine and excellent. 50%+50% = 35% + 65%

You can also create new grades between the given, for example Choice+Fine is exactly between the both, creating a new grade of 42.5%. This is one of the success techniques used in advanced items where every material counts

Hope this helps!

Ah a "recipe" thread that hasnt decended into flames *knocks on wood*. I guess im going to have to dig out my ol'recipe book and look at my notes.

But what I do seem to recal is as most have confirmed is that with the Zun amps, Basic/fine Grip and shaft are almost a must and in some cases depending on the type of mat, choice as well.

Dont take my word though atm... been almost 8 months since I was last on and I know ive forgotten some of the recipes I had committed to memory.

I agree with Xyclone. Spoiling the mystery and fun of searching for great recipes is a bad idea.

i will say that one thing i dont do is give out recepies. (bar one person)

However giving away afew of the building blocks to understand how to go about creating your own sucsessfull recepies is something i dont mind.

another thing currently were on about flat stat amps.

things change when going to max ele / max heal

or even just max ele

the aproach is similar(but effectivly the total opposite), just need to think about what you are actually doing ;)
