Starting the Free Trial and seeing where it will take me!

Post by sirbeanalot »

Hello everyone =]
I am currently downloading the game, (quite big isn't it!)

And i am thoroughly looking foward to playing it! After reading through the forums and looking at what other newcomers have said, i really am excited about this game!

It just seems totally different from, well.... all of the other mmorpgs out there! It sort of reminds me a little of runescape classic, in the fact you can craft etc.

I won't make my mind up about subscribing just yet mind you! As i have alot of homework to do and my first year of College hasn't even started yet! (English collge =])

I hope to meet a lot of new and kind people =] And make friends and just, well enjoy myself!

Welcome to the giant sandbox we love and know as Ryzom. The starting island it quite different from the mainland, but gives you a good idea of how the game mechanisms work. Just prepare yourself for a steep learning curve, once you get over that it's great fun. If you get stuck just ask in region or universe chat, or send me or any other helpful homins a /tell
You get what everybody gets, you get a lifetime

Sure thing ^_^

Is it possible to , for example, just be a harvester, or just be someone hwo makes items? Or do you HAVE to fight monsters all the time?

A good example is a harvester/crafter...a lot of new players do not realize you can actually gain some of the benefits of a "fighter" within the crafting/foraging tree. For example, after you earn a few levels and points to spen on skills, you can but extra health and stamina, to make you tougher so that you can go and dig for higher levels, etc..
It really is a very flexible game! I do agree that you might eventually want to do some magic, or some melee'ing, to "toughen" yourself up, but one of my alt's is an experiment: he is a pacifist, and only crafts and digs and does some healing magic. It is a slower level gainer, but I'm not in a hurry! :)
And welcome to Atys! I have a Silan alt so if you need anything /tell me in game, under the name Beau or Beaugh.

While I think you can be a great harvester if you choose to be... Beware how you spend your SP early on. Until level 50 you'll not want to waste any SP, you can manage fine if you don't buy skills you may not need.

HP while your lifeblood, will often never exceed the damage a bad source can do nor save you from a gingo. It is absolutely needed, but not more than other things that will take your SP quickly. Common sense digging and avoiding aggro will eliminate the need for extra HP, as well as player made gear with boosts.

After level 50 your skills greatly increase and you start to specialize, your skills branches also split allowing you to get SP in many lands. Some are easier than others...
