I'm probably tempting a flame here, but I don't really care;
I don't honestly see why everyone's all so worked up about aggro dragging at OP -- in other circumstances like when digging and so forth it's quite rude, but when a group of homins is out to kill one another in a 'war', makes sense to use the environment to your advantage -- normally, people would get a DP for dying to some nasty aggro, but this is not the case while you have on outpost tag, so who cares really? Both sides could use the tactic, theoretically, and as long as they are both aware of the possibility -- it is not unfair.
As for spawncamping, Gilga mentioned the most logical solution -- once you leave PvP zone, your flag drops!! Put on a cooldown timer that prevents people from re-entering as soon as the homin chasing them has given up. Of course, given how bug ridden the latest patch was -- and still is -- I ought not to request such changes, because it would probably result in us not even having the ability to play OP wars anyway. < /unimpressed>
But, yes, my two cents -- rules of war, don't beat up nocombattants, and leave spawned people well alone. Smack talking does not help either, but I do not see so much of it personally -- I have got upset at one or two people before, but they acted 100% mature and brush off me being an idiot and remind me that is just a game...so kudos to those homins!!
Stop taking things so seriously guys

As most spawn points are outside the PvP zone either they would A- have to run pretty fast to get into the zone (just to die again) or B- comepletely miss out for the cooldown period. Can't see it working too well.

The overwhelming poll results should make it all clear, the rules need to be cleaned up and cleared up.

One thing I kinda agree tho (*put flame retardant suit on*)..
False declare should not be punished....
- I understand that it is annoying but OP were at one stage supposed to change hands and nowadays most are so dependent of their OP that they will stop sleeping????
- In case a guild owns more than one OP, declaring on both could be a strategy from the attacking side in order to split defending side.
- If i am correct, attacking an OP 250 is around 15 millions so anyone falsely declaring an OP still get to pay for it.
Now my previous furious post was more concerning the NON-communication of GF than the changes themselves...
One last comment to any one referring to the petition:
Vince during the Q&A session on Klient "reassured" everybody claiming new surveillance tools for CSR actions; now those new rules are a pure UNTOLD statement of bad implementation of those tools...
If the tools mentioned were working properly, there would not be any need for those new rules.....

okay maybe this is just me but i think thats an ugly trick there - letting the names of people who vote show up... thats just gonna invite more problems later.
i think many many policies need to go back to the old ways. that doesn't mean its going to happen. the naming policy, CSR/Player interactions, and a few others i'm not gonna bother to mention.
this is one of those policies need a changin.. but i'm not gonna vote as my own protest for having the names of voters show.. again i think thats an ugly trick

With the rule of no camping we already run fast into the zone (or near the border) so the only difference will be that there will be no camping possible: out of area: no pvp, inside the area: pvp ok. No timers at all. And you have all the time (as now) to replenish your hp/sap/stamina.ffxjosh wrote:As most spawn points are outside the PvP zone either they would A- have to run pretty fast to get into the zone (just to die again) or B- comepletely miss out for the cooldown period. I was thinking not as a player, but at the devs point of view. Have you ever considered that a couple of homins could go grinding around with no dp at all? Just heal before the timer wears off and there you go, another 10 minutes of free hunting without DP. The OP flag timer is simply a wrong choice. It allows players to cheat, it allows players to spawn camping (if the community was not so mature to decide otherwise). Faction flag works different and the timer is correct, at OP wars is WRONG. A correct game mechanic require no timer at all for the OP flag.
Also, remove the 'neutral' button: you don't want risks? Stay away from the battlefield.
About the window to choose the side: said that i hate all the windows that pops in the middle of my screen, i would see all of them totally removed from the game (Ryzom is the only game i've seen where u can be killed by a friendly tell). Attackers and defenders don't need to do a choice, for other people just put something out of the area (an npc, another banner, etc... many things can do the job) that you can click to choose your side: attacker or defender. If you don't make a choice then your highest faction fame decide for you. Once you have choosen the side it will no more change unless you go to reclick. Done. No more windows annoying you, no more mistakes in choices, no more neutrals into the battlefield.

Well i only did this "ugly trick" so we won't need to write a *Petition* in future. This shows that all voters are real players, living things while on petition with names that you can turn in half of them might be alts of active players. This poll shows the truth - those people who are not only against the "new policies" but who also agree to have theiк name shown.
If you are reluctant to show your name under any statements - no prob. don't vote at all!
please note that noone is forcing you to fall for the "ugly trick"

And again I tell you Tyilin, just like I answered Jacko - this is only and Androbias decision. Not Gameforge's! Androbia is going against Gameforge risking her position for the community and trying to right a major wrong... but GF has said nothing so far and officially (according to GF) Aggro dragging IS ok and the rest likewise...
For all we know Androbia might be fired next week and noone will even hear about it...

I pretty much agree with everything uve said..except that. Some people enjoy watching and/or filming battles. OP's also make a nice safe spot to pull mobs.gcaldani wrote:.

I am too rookie at Ryzom to go into extended debate about specific PvP behaviors, but what I did learn as a PvP leader for my realm on Dark Ages of Camelot was that nothing was better at ruining large scale PvP than playing dirty and knowing you'll never get punished.
Around forty people effectively ruined the entire Realm vs Realm play on my server for a couple of months with night-time and early morning raids you had to stay up or wake up for if you wanted to try and do anything about it - well, actually, being in the same realm as them I couldn't stop them. It did convince the other two realms to make our lives miserable during the evenings, and lead to quite a number of insults thrown about on forums, both between members of the same realm and between members of different realms - and the controversies raised by these night-time attacks haven't died down two years after the facts - not to mention they pemanently devaluated one aspect of PvP gameplay...
GOA (who runs the DAOC servers in Europe) decided to do nothing about the night-time raids and left the community to handle them on their own. Well, as I said, the results weren't pretty, and now I've seen an entire server suffer because of less than 1% of its active population, I'm not quite keen to see it again.
Not to mention inter-realm agreements did nothing to stop the rash of attacks - first because everybody slowly started to bend the rules they had agreed to, and second because the culprits behind the rash of night-time attacks didn't give a damn about those agreements anyway.
Nah, I certainly don't like official statements telling everybody below-the-belt blows are OK... In the case of fake attacks there's little you can do (situation on a server is never always the same), but in the case of dragging aggro it's quite possible to say "No" and be there to enforce the rule (even if not systematically) rather than having it become a standard and even mandatory tactic to play on an even field...
