Change of Policies: aggro dragging, spawn camping etc...

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

What do you think about the new policies?

It's hurting the community and the image of game. We must reinstall the old rules!

Hi all
Everybody talking about rules, rules, rules but someone can show me where they are written plz??

Cause in coc i never saw something about :

"aggro dragging is forbiden"
"spawn camping is forbiden"
"1 guy attack is a fasle declaration".....
"attack at 16:00 gmt is bad cause some guys can't sleep..."
"attack on op must be at 20:00 gmt like this everybody is happy...."

The fact is csr interpret the Precious COC how they want.

Karavans and Kamis respect rules we think are good for community.
So maybe gameforge should write real rules and we'll respect them, we won't say "sorry i didn't know it was forbidden, never saw this rule in coc".

I doubt they'll write new rules and let csr interpret rules how they want and when someone moan.

No csr at battle won't change anything and i think karavans and kamis are enough mature to respect our no written rules.

The last official statement on aggro-dragging at op battles might be this one:

Soulsnatcher wrote: I'm not a fan of aggro dragging by anyone. To me it just smacks of desperation by someone who knows they are losing, or even worse, someone who just wants to spoil things. I have seen it mentioned more than once that a few perceive it as a legitimate tactic (strangely usually the same people who encourage neutral healing, go figure). Now of course we all understand that this can happen by accident very easily - but we also know that it's a common form of griefing by some people (you know who you are, and so do we). While neutrals should not aggro drag to OP battles, I see no justification for it to be used in an OP battle, so I think a blanket policy on it is best to avoid our usual posse of loophole exploiters. As always, I'm more than happy to listen to your opinions on this.
and at the beginning of that thread:

Soulsnatcher wrote:Despite numerous tells, warnings and general “Don’t do it” statements, it seems that there is still some what we call *confusion* over the OP battles and some acts that are carried out within them. So, for the record. If you are neutral and decide to interfere in a battle, healing your friends on one side, you will no longer be requested not to, you will now just be stopped and moved away from the battle. It seems numerous reminders aren’t enough for some people, or they are ignoring them or maybe people think rules don’t apply to them. Either way, you will now be moved. If you decide that it is fun to drag a whole bunch of mobs onto one side during an OP battle, creating an unfair environment, again you will be stopped. The OP battles require a lot of organising and work from the participants who enjoy the results (usually) and it is unfair for those who do not want to be involved in the real fight to interfere in this way.

Many thanks

I don't think it's just OP battles the CSR team is being kept out of, I see bad things happening in other places and not much is being done about it.

The CSR team needs to be able to do their job and it's GF's job to make sure they are doing that job, not keep them from doing it.

Deliberate Aggro dragging and false declarations are completly lame and not a tactic worthy of more than a 2 year old brain in any situations. Anyone not evolved higher than the use of such tactics needs a CSR to slap them if one of their parents isnt present.

Spawn camping is sad but if one side dominates so much to force the other right back to the spawn the mechanic needs changing so you can heal and try fight your way out, any offensive action cancelling the protection of the spawnpoint until death.

Kneejerk reaction from GF there are some things the comunity cant police for itself and needs the CSR's for otherwise the few can easily spoil things for the many.

GF need to police the CSRs and ensure public confidence is restored but in turn some elements of the comunity need policing and scrutiny from the CSRs its a fine balancing act and not an easy one no, easy answers from me, well there is one actually that springs to mind.............

I'm happy. :)

Most happy people just aren't noisy.

But it does seem like some oversight is in order, more for the purposes of keeping things fun than for the purposes of keeping things "As They Should Be" (tm).

As I see our once envied community slide further from it's zenith I find myself waxing nostalgic. If the last patch and these policies are what GF is offering I see little future here. The Saga is gone and soon our community. What else is there? GF needs to listen to the overwhelming voices against this policy.-Kil

I have to agree... I too have seen a lot of shifts in things over the years. Some for the better, some not... and I won't say this was the worst, but it's definitely Top 3 material.

One thing i must note is that alot of new players have said "what happened to this amazing community i heard about in Ryzom"

That is only a fair few, but still worrying.

Im glad their has been no flaming in this thread, everyone seems to kind of agree. Lets see if GF do.

Look we can be civil to each other :)

i think the poll will reflect the community distaste at the policy changes not much needs to be said really just some positive action from gameforge.
