Will SoR survive November?

Post by babaloui »

All things considered, no matter what you think about the game-Do you think SoR will survuve this November considering EQ2 and WoW are both set to launch next month? This is a sincere question, not a bash on our game. I know that Prime time in Trykerville is pretty quiet and I know many of the Trykers left are leaving or thinking about it based on what patch 1 does.

Server seens to be thinning out all ready, lots of times I like only person listed on the /who in a lot of zones now. I hope patch one comes today and is a really good one but to be honest i dont see a lot of players staying around past january when the big guns will start with working housing pets shapechanging and having loot and not being forces to harvest 3 days to play one. Rot rates and a lot of game killing bugs are still around it seams.

Well

Due to the fact there are only 4 servers, I think Neverax planned on this. As long as operating costs are kept low, then the game should survive. We do not know what the break even point is for this game so it is hard to say how many accounts they need to keep things running. If subscribers drops too low and they are forced to cut back on support staff and the live team, then the game will slowly die.

Basicly .. I dont think anyone can make even an educated guess aside from Neverax, and well they would not tell us either way.

i really do like this game. but, if patch 1 does turn out to be a flop i may start considering wow or EQ2. its hard to say how those games will be on release though. i really don't like the idea of leaving but if there are only a few devoted gamers left there isn't much point.

I'll say this. I think Ryzom would sink faster than the Titantic if Nevrax depended on high subcription numbers at all this year. I don't think Nevrax is that stupid though. I'm sure they are very aware of market conditions surrounding their launch. I'm also sure they are very aware that November is going to be a slow month for new subscriptions.

The important thing to remember is that there are many MMO fans who simply don't want WoW's or EQ2's style of play. It's those people that will support this game.

It must be a thing with Trykers. Cause I see people all the time in the Zorai areas.

I agree 100%. It's gonna be the updates. Right now gameplay is at its mmorpg basic level. Character progression and grind. There is nothing else to do. This worked 6 years ago when the genere is new, but I've been doing the character advancment grind for a long time now. It's getting OLD.

I came to this game because it promised something others didn't. A dynamic world with a great epic storyline. This hasn't started yet. EQ and WOW don't even promise anything other than the same old repackaged mmorpgh stuff. However, I'm not going to WAIT, forever. They get a couple months to start kicking off some of what they promised, or I'll go find something more fun.

Patch 1 to me is beta stuff. There is no content, no storyline, no fun stuff going into this patch. It's all game mechanics that should have been fixed in beta. It seems we have to wait over 2 months before this game MIGHT, get moving into something other than a character grind.

I cant see what the population is like because I am stuck in Tryker and wont be getting out for a while. Tryker is almost dead and I dont need to rehash the reasons why as they are all over the board-if you didnt start a Tryker just be happy. Imho if November does still leave Nevrax in OK condition, I dont see there being enough people around to make the game viable. This game seems very community dependant and there has to be enough people around to make it viable.
