Well, there is/was one addon (I never tried it), it's called Sound Thingie. It simply monitors the logfile and plays a sound when it finds a specified text string. It could be useful for alerting you when HP goes down or someone says your name, etc.

But other than that -- the macro editor is quite good in the game.
