[HOW-TO] Running two clients on one PC

you won't need another copy or anything you can just run the same client as often as your cpu/gpu takes it

just checked an very old version I had lying around and it already has been there
so to the when
like forever, just nobody found out

to the why
mostly debugging or for ppl with multiple cores and enourmous hardware ressources

wheeeeeeeeee now i can remove the disable direct input thingy on my second client so i have full mouse control of both.

i still keep 2 versions. one on a differnt hard drive and one wiht lower graphics settings. i just added the /multi to the secondary client

Yay! It works *happy dance* I may try Sashtan's plan of 2 versions later tho...as it is i have both running at low graphics...Lack of shine isn't my thing

I just have multiple client.cfg files and start ryzom via a bat taht copys the right client.cfg in place so u can have multiple settings with just one client

if your computer is strong enough to handle it...

right click on the 'ryzom' icon on your desktop

add /multi to the end of the 'target' line

(will look like this D:\Ryzom\client_ryzom_rd.exe /multi ---- only you will have somethign simliiar yet different for the first part)

hit "OK"

open ryzom - and login (windowed mode is a good idea...)

minimize ryzom after its loaded , and open it again using the ryzom shortcut on your desktop (the one you edited with /multi) - this time login with your second account.

wait for that to login, then start playing

expect serious lag if you have a not-so-high-end computer! setting everything to "LOW" before trying this, then upping as you go is a good idea.

OMG it worked!!!!

It first looked like
"C:\Program Files\Ryzom\client_ryzom_rd.exe"

Then, as advised, i added /multi:
"C:\Program Files\Ryzom\client_ryzom_rd.exe" /multi

Went into config and selected "window mode".

Clicked on shortcut once, logged in with my main account.
Clicked on shortcut again, logged in with a free trial account to test.

Only had about 30 minutes to test it, but PC seems to be able to handle it just fine too

Will test it a bit more next weekend and if my PC doesn't crash, i'll upgrade the free trial account.
