wishful thinking - but it would be nice if the combat mechanics took "reach" into account for positioning toons.
How often have you been hit by something, but you have to run up virtually underneath it to hit back, and as for PvP dueling ? .. players fighting with 2 handed swords, but spending more time hitting the opponent with the handle instead of the blade .. maybe we just need new animations where you can slip an elbow into the face, or knee into the crotch : because thats how close they are standing.

Re: Production: One-handed Weapons Statistics
Yes, I remember that, but that doesn't explain what it does. Pikes have 10 more reach than other 2handed weapons, so that gives you 10 more parry? Gives you 10% more chance to parry? What's the difference with just having a better parry modifer on it?jared96 wrote:- Pikes got 20% decreased damage (was disappointed seeing my damage go from 1000+ to 800 overnight when leveling on plods) but hit rate was increased by 10% and damage taken by character was decreased by 10% suppossedly due to the reach.
I think I've noticed the circular attack thing too, that counts for something I suppose.
Re: Production: One-handed Weapons Statistics
umm, though the opposite is also true? when you've got a bunch of people on one mob.. i think the order of which person the mob will hit (assuming no one taunts) is ..
the magic-wielding person (whatever spells, its all the same) gets hit first
then the fastest weapon with shortest reach (daggers) to slowest weapon
though in all honesty i haven't really tried the whole pikes thing so dunno how that works :/

It means if you and a sword dude are whacking Dai Den and he hits the sword dude for 3500, DD only gonna hit you for 3050. How it factors into the "equations" I have no idea, and frankly, I have not "tested it" just going from the published patch notes.sidusar wrote:Yes, I remember that, but that doesn't explain what it does. Re: Production: One-handed Weapons Statistics
From what I have observed, single mob will go to "damage". Multiple mobs, it seems they have a "hive mind".....original stays on tank, 1st add seems to go to damage, next to healer but can't say I have observed enough consistemcy to call it a "rule". If mages are smart enough to stay 35m away though, it makes the tank's job that much easier. 2-3 plods is cake.....4-5 plods can be held for a while....but even the most skilled of players is gonna lose 1 or 2 eventually.kuroari wrote:umm, though the opposite is also true? when you've got a bunch of people on one mob.. i think the order of which person the mob will hit (assuming no one taunts) is ..

Will we be able to start leveling "Crocth Knockin" under this scenario or will those actions fit into other categories ?iwojimmy wrote:maybe we just need new animations where you can slip an elbow into the face, or knee into the crotch : because thats how close they are standing.
Re: Production: One-handed Weapons Statistics
I also have noticed with a pike being able to hit a mob further away then a 2handed axe... if this works in PvP as well it could be seen as a great asset to the weapon which is a 2handed meele killer in my eyes.sidusar wrote:Yes, I remember that, but that doesn't explain what it does. Re: Production: One-handed Weapons Statistics
The military use of the pike was just that....with a pike you were not in postion to be hit with the shorter 2h weps. Seems to be the equivalent usage in Ryzom would be that the the axe user would not get "in close enough" until the pike user "missed" or "parried" the atttack.great83 wrote:I also have noticed with a pike being able to hit a mob further away then a 2handed axe... if this works in PvP as well it could be seen as a great asset to the weapon which is a 2handed meele killer in my eyes.
Re: Production: One-handed Weapons Statistics
Hmm i guess this isnt a great time to ask this with the runtime bug still effecting everyone and needs to be fixed, but has anything new been devloped on these lines for 1handers recently?
