Hi everyone! I've just started on RoS a couple of days ago. So far, I like my experience. Thought I would ask for some info from the experienced players in regards to the size of the mainland game world. How large is it? Is it like EQ2 with zones, so when you cross, you get a splash screen while loading? Or is it more like Vanguard, where I come from, with long line of sight but the chunks still loading? How Atys is comparable to Vangiuard sizewise? I like to explore a lot.
Also, can anyone recommend an established European guild which recruits newbies?
Sincerely yours,
Wespe (that's my first toon's name)

Re: World questions from a newbie player
The only times when crossing between zones requires a loading screen is when you go through a portal, use a teleportation pact, or respawn.

The size of Atys is really relative to your method of movement. Once you have teleports it makes your world seem smaller by "bringing you there". On foot, you will find the world vast with many unique nooks and crannies. On a mount (if you have enough food and common sense) you can travel around fairly fast, all the while always having things or places to see.svidur wrote:Hi everyone! If you go to the same spot daily to hunt or dig, ouur world may seem smaller than it really is... If you're out taking the time to smell the roses you will find many many new places to check into further.
As for a guild... find those that are online when you are, doing what you like to do. For a listing you can go here.

Re: World questions from a newbie player
Atys is huge, it will take you very long before you've esplored it all.
As for "zoning", you will zone (with load time) only when you cross a portal.
For example, when you go from desert (furtos home region) to forest (matis home region).
The single regions are big enough .. something like antonica zone in EQ2.
Also you have load time when you teleport yourself but, before you can buy/use teleport ticket, you have to go to the kami/karavan camp by foot.
Whenever you reach a kami/karavan camp, you can buy a teleport ticket that will teleport you in that spot from everywhere in the world.
Don't forget to buy a new ticket after you've used it....

Thank you all for your input.
I think, I'm going to upgrade to membership after I finish the RoS.
