Game Resolution not getting saved on Vista ?

Post by ysauve »

I just download the game and i'm trying to get it to work in 1680x1050 (Widescreen mode). I choose 1680x1050 in the resolution box but the game keeps starting in 1024x768 anyway ??? When you try to play a game in 1024x768 using a widescreen monitor you pretty much only see half the screen.

I tried going into my Ryzom directory and manually changed the config file, but for some reasons i can't save it once changed, i get an error. So i copied the file elsewhere, made the change and copy back the file to the ryzom directory but now i get another error. Each time i start the get i get a bad checksum error from the patcher...

I even tried starting the game in Administrator mode, it works but the resolution still is not getting saved. Any idea how to fix this ?

Have you tried logging in all the way? The launcher/login/char select are all 800x600 (IIRC) until you are fully loaded in to game.

I tried it worked but whenever i go back to the character selection screen the resolution go back to 1024x768.

It seems the game is not saving, another example, when you create a character, it ask you what kind of control setting you want, i choose WASD and when i get in the game, it's the default, i have to set them myself.

character select screen is ALWAYS in 1024x768 res.

once u choose your toon and load then the game should revert back to what ever your graphical settings are.

also, make sure for some reason your client.cfg file in the main ryzom install directory isnt for some odd reason, "read-only"

just a thought.

move (or copy, does not matter) Ryzom under your Documents folder (place where user has read/write permissions). adjust icon shortcuts on your desktop/programs menu.

not always :-) , if you running in windowed mode, it keeps the resolution you have when changing chars. why can't char select honor game/desktop resolution :-( , but at least it switches to full screen most of the time now ;-)
