New and Old Mistakes

Short and to the point:

- zero information politic, people have to beg for updates
- zero content additions, don't call the wheels content
- cut of events, why can't 1-2 ppl copy/paste event texts anymore?
- focus on unimportant things, waste of resources
- strict moderation where it isn't needed

Results:

- rising tensions, boredom, criticism like this post here
- waste of resources for solving resulting issues, e.g. community vs csr
- loss of playerbase, image, appeal to potential players

Solution:

- more transparency, it would help to explain why things are like they are
- updates, be it information, content, concrete future plans

Temporary Suggestions:

- add new items to the wheels, fast to implement
- events where players deliver main content, event team just overseer e.g. <name> visits Pyr to listen to players concerns and views about <problem>
- faster feedback, more replies on players concerns, more smaller updates
- other content besides PvP, e.g. releasing new hard to aquire materials can keep all crafters busy for some time

That's it, please don't write endless stories as reply - we want it crispy and clean.

i agree with issues 1 2 3 and 5...

but issue 4 ?? unimportant things ? u call tweaking the range skill tree, and the 1h weapon stats unimportant things ???

From the point of view of us oldies this is something realy not so important ...we already got used to it and this might be put aside. Give us new content or just even a promise (like before it's terminal breath Nervax tried- Kittin Lair)... Of course tweaked range and new challenge for 1h weapons would do much for dedicated crafters but try to answer honestly if it would make oldies got back or stay for another months/years ?
Lets face the truth- for many oldies Ryzom became a nice looking chatting program but how many ppl will be able to afford it or stand without seeing changes that go into right direction ?

Very true, personally i feel i'd rather not hear what they have planned if they aint gunna bring it in for a year.


How long are we expected to wait from being first told about:

Spires (Over a year since we where first told about this?)

1h and ranged revamp (a fair few months of talking and is it any closer to being done?)

Kitin nests (To be honest im starting to wonder if its even being made :o )

New title (*YAWN* we were promised them 9+ months ago under nevrax and now gameforge bring it up as tho its a big thing, come on how complex is changing a few titles? In all honesty thats not content and how long can you drag it on for?)

At least be honest with ETA's on those patches, i'd rather be told 1h/ranged revamp will be 6 months than every few weeks hear more about it and not actually get it in game!

I'm fairly happy with the content already ingame but to hear about all these new things and never see them, tell us about small things like title changes a week before its put ingame, ranged and 1h changes maybe a few weeks notice to see what people feel about it, make the needed changes from player feedback and then put it ingame.

Or how about only work on one thing at once, lets face it we know the dev team is small so why not concentrate their efforts on one thing, i'd suggest kitin tests as thats more likly to keep people happy.

Sorry for what turned out to be a long thread with a worrying amount of negativity

Disagree the 1h and ranged revamp are unimportant.

Releasing something like a new region would offer more novelty and shinyness, but within a day we would've seen every corner of the region and within a week we would've mapped every resource deposit and mob spawn. Then it's back to the daily routine. These revamps should, hopefully, refresh that daily routine. Give the crafters new recipees to discover and offer new tactics in everything from treks to outpost battles.

Though with some of the proposed changes to ranged I do think they're setting themselves up for too much work for things the players don't want or don't care about.... but the other half and the 1h changes look good. :)

Do agree more regular events would be nice, but can't really blame them if all the negativism after the last Marauders event scared them off. :o

Hard to acquire materials would only keep the top crafters busy. For the rest of us, how about that easier access to choice quartered materials we've been begging for for years?

On a slightly related note, the gaming sites haven't written anything about Ryzom since January. It used to be several times a month. Make sure they hear about the updates if/when they happen. It's cheap advertising.

No, I think it refers to the title changes which were actually even delayed over a year, and all the stuff that has been half-implemented for years, but never got released, like the full ryzom date inside the map. Or the stuff that got released, but disappeared some time later, like the camera path recorder (ctrl-alt-shift-f10 or something it was). You should really take a look at the articles we got back in 2005:

For what we have now, most of this stuff was simply a waste of development time as long as it never gets released.

Okay, maybe they're secretly working now on new areas or something, but the past tells us that they might probly never get released completely anyway, and that 90% of it's features will be dropped.

1. do you think they work extra slow to make us angry? i dont think so they will update as fast as they can.
2.hmm you wish to not say the wheel is content but you wish also more things from the wheel? the wheel is only for making dapper sinks and therefor it worked very well i think
3.dont understand what you mean exactly with that you mean server messages? or infos about missed events in forum?
4. in my eyes as an old player the range and 1h changes is the most important thing to have implemented
5.i dont understand these whinings about uni channel, it is q+a and not a talk channel if you wish a talk channel start writing tickets as suggestions. everyone who switches first time to uni sees where it is for

i am happy in ryzom

I think so too, but as an old beta player who paid for and watched over this game for several years now, I would really like to see some things change. I mainly presented some of my ideas and you are invited to discuss them.

Regarding the speculations, Kaetemi summed it up pretty well, nothing to add :p
