some newb questions

hi. i am trying ryzom again as i remember it being different and after trying all other mmorpgs out there.. i dun know, i hear raves about this community and skill system. so.. some questions. i want to be a say all end all of healing? any suggestions on race and what skills to start w/? is the pvp any good? i really like support roles in pvp. anyway thanks in advance for the response. doesn't seem to be a lot of current info on the game. oh another thing, which is the most populated server?

Hi Vherian and Welcome to Atys!!!
Regarding your questions this game uses skill based system and there is no limit to what you can have, you can be a healer. fighter crafter and harvester all with one character, albeit it will take you a very VERY long time to get there if youd like to master all skill trees. also you can be a healer with any race, just pick the one that appeales to you most through story or looks, youd be equally as good.
Pvp is quite nice in this game, its fully concencuall (im sure its not how you spell it ) basically ganking is reduced to...almost 0. But once you hit mainland you can participate in outpost battles which is the highlight of pvp in this game. outposts give your guild certain bonus resources and whoever controls them gets very nice spoils. so you can choose to either defend or attack an outpost. If you defend you ahve to hold it for certain amount of time, if you attack you ahve to take it over within that time. (its a bit more complicated then this but in a nutshell) and you can easily have about 30-40 people a side battling.
Of course there is also your standart 1v1 pvp. and fvf non outpost pvp.
As for the server arispotle is english speaking server leanon german and aniro is french i beleive. they are divided by language.
