First thing I do once I hit the main land is check on my friend list to see if you're online, then send you a tell.

Re: A little gift to new players :)
This is very generous of you but for myself, I would rather not have this sort of gift.
I have been playing for about 2 weeks and registered around the end of the first week. I am loving it. So I am discovering the game and this world as I go.
Don't get me wrong about me refusing this gift. It is a great gift and alot of people will want it. I just feel that having this is kind of like geting a shortcut.
By shortcut I mean I feel it would be like being able to do things faster or ahead of its normal evolution time. I prefer to progress in the normal path. Doing this I will learn how to do things and how not to do things. Having a powerfull weapon right away would encourage people to go ahead one on one against powerfull creatures and win more easily but the day they loose that weapon and do loose to the same leveled creature will be a very disapoint day. Having to fight the same creature with what I would have gathered on my own, is more rewarding for the outcom of it because I gathered the experiences and equipements on on my own, by my own choices.
Since this game is about freedom of choice (that is what I like the most about it), then people have the choice of accepting your gift or not and I respect that. Hey, even I on 2 occasions, offered things to players who just came in simply because I felt like it (gave 10,000 once and gave a level20 2 hand sword because I had an extra one).
About 2 days ago, just 5 min after I logged on, I was surprise to see the Queen visiting us. It may be nothing to some other gaming community but to me it is a gift. A gift of attention from the Ryzom community. I just wish I was here when the other similar activities happened. It is so cool !
I really enjoying this friendly community and I admit, its even better then what I was expecting. I strongly recommand you keep giving gifts to new comers. This will attract new players and help spreading the word about how the Ryzom community is. My thumbs up to you guys !

Still thinking about doing a full 3d rendering of Fyros (call it Ryzom 3.0 if you like).

Re: A little gift to new players :)
Hehe Browser..
Fully understand your point of view tho Supreme weapons or Fire and Wrath compared to Choice weapons do not make such as huge difference such as being able to solo something with Sup and team with choice...
The dmgs are the same, speed might be slightly higher but not that much and finally u may miss one or two time less every 10 hits.
It is more for new players to receive something to help them during their first weeks on Mainlands and to have a better weapon until they find guild or friend to help them... Especially since the start on Mainlands is pretty hard compared to Silan.
Also allows me to give a few hints to them while in tell on how to optimize training from trainers: not all starting players ask the questions they should ask on Univ channel
As well, all the weapons I craft are with cool effects same as Fire and Wrath...
Might help motivate some to push on digging-crafting..
