Other suggestions of mine,
- there are a bunch of NPCs in the Ranger Camp, they are either walking around or just standing waiting for player interactions. But we have no NPCs actualy doing ANY kind of work. Having NPCs working would increase realism and attract more players. There are crates around. Why not NPCs transporting them around or to/from outside ? Any other suggestions for NPCs that should not just walk around and stand still ?
- there are tents in the camp and people. That suggests they are living in the camp right ? Then if they have been there for a while, they should have formed families right ? Then where are the children ? This would increase realism.
- there are campfires around. How about NPCs just siting around it and having a good time ? Telling jokes, stories, having fun or just sleeping.
- since we never see anyone sleeping around there, they never have any change of shifts ? I mean it is always the same people standing at their posts. No one replaces them. They never need sleep or nurishments ?
- in the middle of the camp, there is this house with a woman in it (blue race, forgot the name). She is just standing there and there is no interaction possible with players. Why put her there if there are no interactions possible ?
Some of those suggestions could be applied to the whole Ryzom world and some not. Feel free to suggest anything else but ONLY related to the Ranger Camp environement in Silan.

- small competitions amongst CSR
- a stand where you could do an auction to sell your stuffs publicly instead of selling to the store and hoping someone buys it in less then 7 days ?

This I like. However, npc's currently do this. They wander around the land, sit together, tell stories, rest, and so on. Seriously though, it is better that they don't have anything to say, than the same things over and over.
A wizard did it. Now, while it appears that you do not have one, there is this thing called an "imagination". With you you can "imagine" things that are happening, even when they are not happening. You are close to using this properly. You can see what would make the npc's stories better. Well, use whatever imagination you have to either come up with reasons why the npc's can't sleep when you are around, or imagine that they did change over.browserice wrote: - since we never see anyone sleeping around there, they never have any change of shifts ? You do have a lot of good suggestions. But really, there are better things to be working on. You do, however, have the option of using Ryzom Ring to create your own camps, and maybe you can show your suggestions at work using that as a basis. Specifically the talking ones.

There is a difference in priority for any developement team : bugs first, suggestions after. I know about this. These are just suggestions. It will be up the DEV team to decide. Doing suggestions doesn`t imply that they have to do it. It also implies that no one will even want them. I also know that, but then again, they are just suggestions. People doing suggestions have to be aware of this and live with it. They also have to welcome critics. I encourage it.akicks wrote:You do have a lot of good suggestions. Also please remember that the creation of Silan is a relatively recent undertaking. The ROI (return on investment) to the game developer is obvious as if a player is put off by his first viist, he / she won't come back. However from a player perspective, the ROI is a bit short. Paying customers spend little time in Silan. While I'd suggest a 1st time player w/o a friend alreday in game bring his / her skills up to 20, when creating a 2nd toon, or if joining a group of friends already on the mainland wh can provide assistance and advice, there's no real reason to stay past level 5 or so and that can be done in an hour
For my money, I therefore prefer development time and money be spent in the ML areas. A lot of time and effort went into makinhg Silan and it's time some long unaddressed issues got taken care of. Silan had it's turn, ML's turn next

The original Ryzom was going to be a thing of beauty and glory, providing all things to all playstyles, guaranteeing all of a players needs and allowing them to waste away in real life while spending their lives blissfully on Atys.g00st wrote:uhoh

Unfortunately, the development was being done by the Momos, who were exterminated by the Matis in a fit of fraticidal embarrassment over them using the wrong fork to eat wombaï tongues at a progress meeting, before anything but the general concept could be developed.
Grimjim, The one and only person who knows what the game is really supposed to be about has since left and isnt telling us where we are going wrong anymore.

Silan was introduced IIRC about a year ago. When I started playing in (again IIRC) January 2004 and up until last June 2006 or so there were 4 separate starter islands, one for each race. I only visited 3 of the 4 (never saw jungle starter island) and 2 of the 3 only during the focus beta stages.browserice wrote:I thought Silan was there since the beginning !
