I just started and I was wondering if there is any way to use a gamepad to play. I really don't like using a keyboard to play.
All help is appreciated.

. I can only suggest that you press K (or is it Shift+K?) to open the Keys window, and then try to assign your gamepad controls to do what you want them to do (click on the keystroke for Turn Left, say, and then press your Left gamepad button).
Gamepads aren't much use for communicating with other people. Perhaps that's why they were never generally implemented?
I hope you're not entirely averse to using a keyboard - Ryzom is a Saga not a FPS.

I tried what you suggested but it didn't work. That seems to only work for keyboard.
The reason I ask is because I also play Final Fantasy and they have it to where you can set up your movment, camera, menu and also macros (like the
# and shift+# in this game) to a gamepad. I do use the keyboard communicate with others.
So far I'm using the mouse..but not to fond of it either.

hmm for movement you will be sorta gimping yourself with a game pad... just side steps and looking around as your run is done with the mouse and keyboard at the same time. I have found it very useful for sneaking and pvping as well.
