This game is looking great. My first several days are really building up a love for this game. I have a few questions, though, before I cough up my $15/month... Realistically, I'll wait until I max my skills (30 right now) in all four trees before paying, just because I've been burned before by this industry. But, in the meantime:
1) Does this seem to be a 'solid' game? I know they just changed ownership, etc, but is this game still going to be around for a while? Long enough to phone up guildies, WoW-junkies, etc and tell them what I've found? I haven't enjoyed the freedom of a game like I am lately since SWG. And this is A LOT less frustrating than that was. What does tomorrow hold?
2) Does the island represent the rest of the game? Are there as many, or more, Missions on the mainland? Or does it 'switch' to more of a grind mode? What about the 'higher levels' - same question...
3) What about 'end game'? Is there 'raid' style content? Things that require massive, coordinated cooperation?
4) What's the 'Ring' content like? Is that a viable feature of the game, or just a bullet point?
5) Are there any good websites that I need to know about? I searched and searched for a current skill tree, for example, and couldn't locate one. I'm sure I am just looking in the wrong place, but any pointers would be awesome.
I'm still learning TONS about this game, which until this week I had no idea even existed. I hope I haven't missed out on it, but am having a good time so far.
Before I pay...
Re: Before I pay...
The game isnt going anywhere, gameforge aint going bust any time soon!
I've played for ages and not really worried that the game will stop, ownership might change but there is so much potential in ryzom someone will always buy it (that said gameforge have big plans for ryzom so ownership wont be changing)
Does noobie-land reflect well on mainland, i dont think so, you dont grind missions, currently there are limited amounts of "missions" worth doing, but i find the grind in ryzom enjoyable, as a friend once said to me, if your gunna grind which all MMO's are, you may as well grind in an amazing looking world.
No such thing as end game really in ryzom, with 11 melee, 4 magic, 5 harvest and 39 (i think) craft tree's you'll never finish them all But what to do between the grind, plenty! Boss hunting is a great hobby of mine we have large scale wars (outpost battles) pvp in major cities whenever the hell people feel like it, NPC bosses (bad ass bosses ) which take 20-40 people to kill, theres plenty to do altho its not the type of game that walks you through what to do, it does take some input and brain waves
Currently the ryzom ring isnt used to its full potential but theres plenty more to come of it im sure, if you like making things you'll love ryzom ring.
Good websites err, main two off the top of my head are ryzom raum and ballisticmystix.
One thing i can promise you about ryzom is you wont have people trying to scam you, kill steal, or be a pain, unlike nearly every game out there at the moment ryzom has a mature and friendly community, people ingame make talk rubbish to each other but at the end of the day theres a level of respect between people in ryzom, i'm sure you'll enjoy it
Oh and welcome to atys

Welcome to Atys, mcbobbo . Kye pretty much covered your questions, but I'd add that it's a very good idea to bring a little initiative with you when you come to the mainland. Atys is there for us to do what we want with, unlike Silan which revolves around introducing newcomers to Ryzom.
I'd suggest that Ryzom has no endgame, it's a gradually developing Saga. Something is stirring at the moment too, if you take a look in the Saga forum.

Theres an exception to every rule, but in SunCe's case beating the hell out of him over and and over in duels normally shuts him uptigrus wrote:I resent that
