it should go something like this:

tryker have better stats on shell and seed

matis have beter stats on wood and sap

zorai have better stats on fiber and resin

and fyros have better stats on oil and amber

i know a few mats are left out and they could possibly be more equal to all regions since the different types of mats wouldn't devide equally into four races. but the mats kinda match the territory and therefore would be of better quality in that region as opposed to others. this would increase travel and trade immensly!

You can travel to fyros or matis or tryker or zorai and pick up the specific race skill to craft with.. Im matis, I can go to fyros and get fyros melee weapon crafting 1 2 3 4 5 and buy the weapon plans for fyros melee weapons and craft them.. I would also need the common/desert/prime roots ecosystem mats to make them with..

The stats and the colors are the same, its just where the mat is harvested from and what crafting plans will accept it that change..

http://www.lafekafe.com/ryzom/ has the colors and stats and such on all the harvested mats in the game basic-supreme and they are all identical from all the lands.. just what they can be used with is what changes.

ALL mats choice-supreme will be race/land specific except for prime roots which any can use.. but there is nothing stopping a matis from picking up fyros crafting and using the fyros specific mats afaik

If something is named, say, Oath Bark, for example, it should have the same stats in any land you go. Otherwise it wouldn't be Oath Bark. Having maybe one or two mats which are unique to a certain land would be pretty cool though, however, at that point it would be really useful if anyone could use it for any plan.

And to the person who said

"so, there is really no reason to visit different lands other than to meet new players, check out the scenery and local wildlife. while i enjoy doing those things theres not much to make me com back now is there?"

Yes, there are other reasons. You can sell your race's armor and weapons for more, you can pick up plans, or if high enough in magic, that lands specific magic spell, so on and so on. Keep in mind that once you get to another land, you can get back there fairly easily too. So yes, there are a few other reasons you'd want to visit other lands.

you can also raise the other forage types for extra skillpoints in forage in other lands.. so of course there are reasons to go there :)

Originally the materials extracted were unique to each race land. Its why all their gear looks so different.

Matis have plant armor and weapons, genetically engineered. There foragers only gathered plant materials. Trykers had shell, Zorai had amber, Fyros had wood, etc.

It made a lot more sense. Then they decided to give everybody everything, I believe trying to make it easier to tell what was used for what crafting purpose. I find it to be a silly change that didn't make sense and didn't really help crafting. But yes, there was originally a reason.

What sense do things make now? not much that I can tell except that by an icon you now what purpose an item will serve in a crafting process.

I think they could change things back to the way they were, without ruining the ease of crafting. Each land should have the same resources they have now, just change their names to make it more specific to the land. For example. If oath bark only grows in the jungle, in matis maybe they should have some other tree name but have the exact same stats.

Another way would be to totally change the stats of mats based on their lands. Then certain land's equipment would be different from anothers and it would be worth while to get depending on what you want to do.

Currently since all those choice mats are basically of the same type, I don't see why it should be restricted to one race.
