Are there anyone gethering up all the 4 skills instead of specializing in one ?
Is it by choice or because in order to develop one you need get others ?
Let me explain, initialy I wanted to be a craftman but I find out that to craft anything, I need raw materials. So I had to start developing fighting and harvesting skills to get raw materials. I then saw magic skills being all there left alone so I figured why not. So now I am gathering up skills in all 4 branches. I am not saying I will keep doing it but once I am off the island (when all missions are completed), then I'll decide (hope it will be easy to decide).
So only developing craftman's skills is kind of impossible.
Only magic skills, probably can. That's one way of combat.
Only fighting skills, probably can to. That's another way of combat.
Only harvesting skills, probably too but in the long run, is there a need for harvester outside the island ?
Is there somekind of restrictions/penalties that I will find one day if I keep gathering all skills and not specializing in one ? Its like being multifonctional to the community.

Still thinking about doing a full 3d rendering of Fyros (call it Ryzom 3.0 if you like).

As you discovered yourself, skills are somehow linked to each others.
Most players have:
- Melee skill (1 out of 11 possibilities of specialisation) as this is what increase ur HP and makes your stronger.
- Magic skill : Elemental magic for High Damages and heal to save ur team (2 affliction skills are harder to lvl but handy too at high lvl).
- Harvesting is good to play solo and gather mats to craft
All is open to you and you cannot really make a wrong choice.
The advantage of the system is that when u have enough of fighting u can always get a pick and go harvesting (or the other way round)..
Add to this other things like exploration, following named mob to learn the path they use for patrolling, Prime Roots digging (dangerous underground area with very good mats) and you have enough to keep you busy for some time

Most long term players will have Masteries in all 4 of the basic skill trees.
As Gillest says, a melee skill, as that is the fastest way to gain more hitpoints and thus survivability in game.. a magic skill -elemental for damage output or healing for party support, often both - dig skill in their native land and the Prime Roots, and crafting skill in whatever has taken their fancy.
Early in the game you tend to do mostly one thing, eg heal, or tank, or nuke or dig, but as you spend more time on Ryzom you will do other stuff simply because you can, and there is no drawback to being versatile (OK, carrying around heavy armour, casting armour, digging armour, 3 different magic amps, 2 full sets of jewels, and 3 different weapons plus a shield and a pick (crafting tools are left in stables) does limit your ability to pick up loot )
Learning different branches of the same tree does give advantages, eg once you have learnt the sap credit upgrades from one branch, you wont need to buy them again in another branch, same for craft upgrades etc. and some skills are available from all four trainers eg Speed, Invulnerability, self heal (maybe not from craft trainer).
By the time you have high levels in a skill, you will have more skill points than you know what to do with ( hint to GameForge - more skills please ) so its just a matter of getting through the early levels.

Re: Anyone get all 4 skills (fight, craft, magic, harvest) ?
As people have already said there is no limit to what you can do in ryzom, most long term players will have the basic skills mastered (a melee, elm and heal) then go on to do what they prefer.
Personally i do a bit of everything, except craft its the one thing on ryzom i dont have much intrest in.
