Ryzom Via Thumb Drive

Post by jared96 »

Since Ryzom as a "program" is self contained, I was wondering if anyone has ever tried carrying it around on a thumb drive. Copy Ryzom folder to Thumbthingie, arrive at a "guest" computer, plug in the drive and launch.

Work ?
Slow ?

Yes, Ryzom is a "portable app". I played it from a portable HD via USB 2.0 and did not notice any lags. I launched it via ryzom_configuration_rd.exe and it worked on a friends' pc too. I guess a stick will work as well if it is fast (and big) enough.

Should fit on an 8 Gigger. I have the game + klients + a craft simulator + a few choice mp3's I use while playing and I add up to about 6.7 Gigs. A 16 Gigger would be well mmore than enuff.

Should work in theory... if you're going to need to patch it might be a problem (and would need a lot more space) but yeah it should work I guess.

Why so ? If the entire thing with extras is 6.73 , and last bynch of patches were only 45 - 90 MB or so, it would seem anything short of a huge huge patch would be "no biggah deal".
