Apology accepted.

However if you do notice both sigs actually say the oppisite. So its really not paraphrased and you should not feel the need to remove yours as that looks like what you did.

I still like yours to ;)

korin77 wrote:LOL, you know thats an ancient chinese proverb right? It originated from a story of a farmer who was about to die. He told his seven sons at his death bed to each take a chopstick and break it. They each broke it easily. Then he got 7 chopsticks together and asked them to break it. They could not. He explained that alone, none of them were strong enough, but together as one. They were much stronger. He suspected his sons did not listen to him, so at his dying breath he told them of the gold he had buried in the fields.

After the father died, his sons went digging for the treasure. They dug the fields day and night and could not find a hint of the gold. Finally after a few days they gave up. Since they already had the fields dug, they planted the seeds for the wheat. After a few months, the fields were full of the golden wheat, and they finally realized what their father had meant. They realized that with teamwork, they could accomplish anything.
However, that is the first time that I have heard that story. Just becasue one discovers a truth which is already known to another does not make the later discovery any less valid nor does that story precisely fit with the phrase in question. The point being that the strength of the individual has the power to lift many whether it be those whom one intends to help (the team) or whether it be those who are inspired by the actions of the individual (the on-lookers). Both situations were very much evident on the trip that inspired that phrase: One happy 15 year old lifted the spirits of his team even as they drudged over steep rocky terrain for the third day straight (the team). Other teams, seeing that this group could remain upbeat determined that they would do the same (the on-lookers).

It takes real courage to admit a mistake tleilaxu, I am impressed. <bow>

Like Varth, I find that both quotes mean two different things.

"The strength of many, forged into one" emphasizes the strength of the unified group.

"By the strength of one are many made strong" emphasizes the impact of the individual upon those around him.

They are similar sounding but really cover two completely different things.

One should always study the past to know your future. The wisdom of the ancients can lead your way. Strength means little if not tempered by wisdom. The wise old ones shall lead the way. There is no path that is right or true, only the one that is open to you. Truth is relative, if your relatives are true.

One can make up a hundred different sayings and you still won't be the first, or only person who's ever said it. Claim not credit for things you say, but instead credit the wisdom that allowed you to receive that saying.

Thanks for that, a smile on a gray day is a precious thing indeed.

Too true, but I'd rather be guilty of claiming responsibility for the things I've said and letting others decide whether there was wisdom behind the words than of cliaming that I am wise when I am but a fool.

Hehe, waxing very philosophical in here has diluted the thread quite a bit.

That being said, to compensate for heavy stamina actions I always attack with my default attack (yes, the basic n00b default attack) and add my heavy hitting action every other blow. The effect is that I use about 1/3 the stamina, hit more often and for generally more damage on each hit, and lose less HP during the fight.

Its always my fault. I am bored here at work. I can't help going off topic. I tried writing poetry but nobody else even chipped in so it got lost down in the crowded posts somewhere.

PS> they finally fixed my forum account so I can finally edit my signature with useless info.
