I just purchased a new Dell with the following:

AMD Athlon 64 3500 (2.2 gh)
2 gig Ram
ATI Radon 1300+ 256 graphics card
80 gig hd
Vista Home Basics

My first several attempts to down load and run Ryzom ended in the same error codes as listed in the original post. After several uninstalls and clean reinstall attempts and a hairs breath away from breaking out the ole WXP pro disc and ridding myself of vista I found this thread. Upon attempting Only to run as admin, nothing else, the game is running just fine and looks better than ever!
Thank you for time you spent working on the issue and coming up with possible solutions. For me the fix is easy enough now that i know what to do. I hope this helps others as well, as already the option for any other OS on a Dell comp is unavailable, it is Vista standard already. The same is true for HP direct online sales and I'm sure others I did not look at while comparision shopping.
I had intended upon only 1 gig of ram but after reading the system requirements just for Vista Home Basic and adding the needs of running Ryom smoothly I decided on 2 gig even though it pushed me a little over what I had wanted to spend on the new comp.
The vista requirements were also why I passed on the free upgrade to Vista Home Premium, 1 gig ram just for an OS?! No chance I want that behemoth on my machine, 512 required for an OS is bad enough and why I felt I actually need 2 gigs of ram to run it and my beloved Ryzom.

As I said in an earlier post somewhere; if you give your local user full rights on the directory where Ryzom is installed, it will just work without problems.

Well i have tried everything people have said in this post, and yet i still cant even get the application file to load, and if i try and run game after fresh install nothing happens what so ever.

My UAC is disabled, Admin rights are on full control for all users it gets to the load screen i get a error msg.

I have a Dual Core Duo 2 - 2.13 GHZ
2GB 533mhz ddr 2 kingston ram
MSI Geforce 7800GT 256mb ram graphics card
250 GB Sata 2 Harddrive

Should have enough hardware to run the game... Please correct me if i do not.

If any one has any ideas please let me know, the other alternative is going back to my Windows Xp Service Pack 2.

Thanks

I got new comp to play with yesterday, complete with Vista and more toys... After all the reading of folks with problems I figured this new installer was going to be a fit.

Flawless, install and load worked first try and I was able to get in game right off and make faces at Mentaloid.

I have both hardware and software firewalls and I cannot see the other 3 comps on my home network yet, but as far as the new installer and Vista... NO PROBLEMS with SoR and Vista.

I bought an HP notebook with Vista RC1 Home Primium
Intel Core2 CPU T5300/ 1.73 GHz
1014 MB RAM
Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
142 GB Hard drive with 127 GB free space

My firewall is turned off. I've tried installing direct to hard drive. I'm the only user so admin isn't an issue (I think).

When I try to download, get to 50% then get message "error installing one of the Ryzom installation files. Please make sure that you have sufficient disc space."

I can't find a solution. HP said I need to ask Gameforce for a patch. Klients couldn't seem to help. Anybody know what the problem is?

The Ryzom download window shows 108 of 108 and 616 of 616MB downloaded and it's on step 2.Install. The size of the Ryzom folder in my hardrive is 43.5 MB.

I'm just throwing this stuff out there, because I'm not computer savvy, and I don't know what info is needed for a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Off the top of my head...

Your problem seems to have nothing to do with Vista...

There should be a play ryzom and ryzom link when your done. Make sure you're selecting the correct one.

Vista RC1, did you buy this new ??? (Windows Vista: Beta 2, RC1, and RC2 Set to Expire)
After May 31, 2007, users that continue to use pre-release versions of Windows Vista will be able to log in for 2-hour sessions to retrieve data. After 2 hours of use, the PC will automatically reboot without providing the opportunity to save data. The opportunity to log in normally for these 2 hour sessions will only be available for a limited time.
Before I even worry if your tinkering with a beta while not admittedly "computer savvy", I do hope that after all your work that the Intel graphics chipset will even satisfactorily play Ryzom.

Turning off your UAC and firewall is not the best idea either...
HP said I need to ask Gameforce for a patch
It's GameForge, and the quicker the HP guy gets you to believe their computer and your skill are not the problem, the quicker they can get back to gorging on cold pizza. This computer is HP, Vista and less than 2 weeks old... downloaded and installed Ryzom without a hitch, check your computer settings. There is no special HP download...

Good luck !

So you're saying this comp that I just bought has a version of vista on it that is going to be worthless, and I'm going to have to buyan upgrade within the next couple of weeks.

And the game still won't install, but it's not vista. When my old computer was a cheaper model with less everything, yet Ryzom worked fine.

Great so I'm screwed. Thanks a bunch.

If someone sold you a PC with a beta version of an OS on it, go complain.
