dakhound wrote:*raises hand* :D I've also mastered PR and close to mastering desert, I do like digging in PR for choice grind mats as well as the obvious supremes. Desert may be easier but it doesnt entertain me somehow. (I dont ahve a point to make I just thought I'd let you know there are some nutases who do dig PR)
Exactly. My point was that no one digs grind mats "cause it's easier". Some will do it for the challenge, others cause their bored with a place, some to raise PR trekking skills learning routes, but when a statement is made that it's just as efficient, despite the tp'ing, despite the longer travels, despite picking your way thru aggro to get the last 2 of the 4 mats ya need to get something it's just not going to find a lot of consensus.

wood/resin spot on alternative weather in SC nr the nexus portal, non stop digging
Easy digging spot ...... harder part is getting there. Travel choices for a kami:

1. Nexus portal - Navigate Nexus .... yuk
2. Sunken City TP - Rough trip thru vorax, jugs and other nasties.
3. Forbidden Depth TP - Run around hugging wall past kirosta, kipucka, jugs , vorax, kipesta and bandits. THis is route I usually take as if you willing to wait for path one will usually open on first half and speed takes care of the rest.
oil/sap near LoC tp bit crappier weather but 2 sap to choose from
many other easy dig spots especially for weapon mats, Big shell not far from SC kami tp 99% safe, beckers bark nearly all spots easy I dont know what the fuss is about.
I found oil / sap in US to be much easier. Jumping to KoD and then going thru portal puts oil a few steps from portal. You may get chased off by Barney the Dinosaur (Vorax) every 5 or 6 pulls but tunnel and easy run. Very similar to Irin in LoC. The Viscous sap is IMO the easiest HA mat spot in game. An occassional disturbance but few and far between.

It's all no fuss really. The original issue was the claim that all mats should be "equally accessible". I disagree. The other claim I disagree with is that it is just as easy and efficient to dig PR as above ground (AG).

Example:

Watchers Camp in FF versus above PR spots.

1. Oil and Sap - PR there's more time to get to spot with double port (TP and portal); more time walking between spots, no aggro at all AG so constant digging w/o interuption. PR, I gotta travel 200m, and I gotta run away about every 8 or 9 minutes. 380 mats and I'm ouuta there and do all over.

Why PR option is harder:

a) takes longer to get to 1st spot
b) have to tarvel again to get to 2nd spot
c) never chased off spot above ground
d) no need to TP out, storage right in camp

2. Wood and Resin - PR there's more time to get to spot with very long run; more time walking between spots, no aggro at all sat eitehr spot once there. However lots of aggro to get to spot and DP a not infrequent result in PR. 380 mats and I'm outta there and do all over. Seasonal restrictions.

Why PR option is harder:

a) takes longer to get to 1st spot
b) have to travel again to get to 2nd spot
c) never chased off spot above ground
d) no need to TP out, storage right in camp, tp out and gotta pass all that aggro again.
e) in at least one seasons motega not available.

3. Crafting and selling - AG, all mats go right on packer left in camp 20m away an there's a hawker right in camp to collect dappers from for crafted items.

Why PR option is harder:

a) AG can save 3000+ mats w/o leaving
b) AG don't have to TP somewhere to craft or sell

Yes PR is certainly doable....I grabbed over 600 exe and 210 sups last nite (none at SN"s) in about 2.5 hours. But I also got 3.5 million DP :) . Interestingly enough all of that DP came trying to get the last 20 mats I thot were in node...turned out it was 5 :( .

But the item I took issue with is the statement that one can level craft just as fast or efficiently in PR as one can with above ground mats....I don't think you are saying you agree with that either
there is another reason I like PR digging in the high level areas, there are only a few of us who do it and there is a little community down there, I dig any prospective PR diggers spots and gladly offer my xp to anyone mad enough to follow me about down there
Same here. If anyone ever sees my name in region and needs a "dig buddy" by all means invite me. But sad to say most of my dig buddies of old are not on much anymore. Last nite after the server reset when you think PR would be teaming there was 3 people in Wastelands when I started.

For most of the 90 minutes I was there, was just me and Jasmi. I was kinda glad it was that way frankly as it was exe / sup weather its seemed 80+% of the time and the two of us got off with quite a haul. I moved over to US and was alone there till about 10 minutes before I logged.

These days I just go down when the HA mats bank runs low on a particular mat. I'm not crafting much anymore so don't need mats unless some one needs me to craft something.

After taking vacation from game, I came back with an urge to master PR. Took 3 weeks to go from 81-250. Spending those 3 weeks in constant darkness with no one in region 90% of the time was, well, "boring" and disheartening as no one around to answer the occasional "please rez" requests :) Once done I just wanted to dig in sunshine agin for a while.

But trying to grind thgrough the 230's and 240's in HA so I could reliably use all those sup mats I had dug ? I quickly decided I wasn't going to do that with PR mats. Not when I could dig much faster and more efficiently above ground.

I gotta agree with Jared here. i too levelled PR and used the mats to grind craft up as i despise diging for no cause. so up to 180 i dug weapon mats (shell and fiber in EF inside and outside the cave at grotto pass, node at FD kami and bark in LoC). Then i continued with HA and those mats also were easy to get, wood in LoC, irin too, tama and silverweed at Jugukoo, resin in SC on east wall.
Same for melee stuff... shell can be got in a number of boss caves very safely, fiber at SC Kara. All these spots are safe.

Yep i did get more dp than i would have gotten digging same stuff in void, but then in PR theres always the chance to get the occasional exce or sup stuff, and it also did marves for my sneaknig skill :)

GoC used to be a very popular place to hunt, but that was before people began to explore void

And if people would actually explore they would find some nice spots to in the SC in fyros, but im just an oldie talking now, havent played in months due to boredom but look for better spots guys, they do exist

Now has 2 dictionary websites at my disposal, bring it on grimjim
Currently annoyed that the devs somehow made ryzom unplayable on my machine

Silverweed at Jugakoo ?....oph do tell where oh where :) .....I dug, IIRC, redhot sap by the jugster. The only SW I have found at LoC is way up to the NE and I have yet to make that trip safely :( .

You're right, its Redhot, sorry. had typed the upper posting from work :D judging by the creation time, so bear with me :)
But i was talking bout grind, so the mat subtype is not so important. I wouldnt craft a HA to use with dung either.

Gee you had me excited for a while.....SW is always the mat I have in lowest supply. Can't often log on during work or sleep to hit the season change to get at Sap SN......US weather real slowie slowie.....Sunken City SW I have never finished a pull, FD ok, doable but long travel and LoC I have never been able to even get in and prospect w/o gettin chased off. So another SW spot for my solo efforts wuda been real welcome. :(
