Where's the server-status info?

Being new here, this is the first unplanned downtime I've seen. While I wait, I've been poking around the website and forum, trying to find where such things are announced so it'll be easier to find next time there's an outage.

And I've been unable to find it, other than a post in someone's thread here in Tech Support. But, surely, there's a place where the admins proactively announce when there's an outage, and keep us posted with info on estimated return and such?

You can find the server status (without any additional info) linked from the Ryzom website, top-right corner, although it seems to be a bit out of sync atm.
Explanation of downtimes can usually be found in the forums or on Klients chat.

Thanks, Khyle. I'd seen the little green lights on the home page (which were wrong today), but not the link to the status page.

The site is static so the server status on the home page doesn't refresh (and so don't trust it too much). As Khyle said, the best way to find info about server issues is to come on Klients, our live chat support, and then the forums.
