Loggin in then staying connected issues

About 50% of the time when trying to log into the game, I get stuck on the loading screen and have to ctr/alt/delete to get out. I will get connected to the server, however not the game.

The other 50% of the time I'm able to log in and play, however usually (meaning like 95% of the time), after about 15 min. I get an icon in the middle of the screen that says "please wait", however it doesn't seem to matter how long I wait as it's as yet to reconnect me even after sitting there for 10 or so minutes.

I want to play the game. I like the idea that it's different, however not a lot of fun if I have to continually log in and out and hope that I'll either get in the game at all or stay connected.

Appreciate any input on this.

Your problems seem to be network related from the symptoms. Do you have a firewall or router? If so you can read what ports need to be open in order to play ryzom here. Making sure your ports are configured correctly is a first start in resolving please wait issues. if you continue to have problems come into Klients or post here again and we can look into interpreting some trace route results from you to the server and see if there are issues we can correct ( or contact the appropriate equipment owners )

This doesn't fix your problem really, but my connection used to be a bit squirrely... On your "network" window (N is my button, the new stuff may differ), if your not "disconnected" and "probing"... reset your modem and try again. Oftentimes it is not the game, but the resources the game takes from your system which may cause your connection to not respond.

It can't hurt to try, back when my DNS changed daily 24 hours and 10 minutes later like clockwork... I used this method to prevent having to do the long relog process.

I have gone and done the things suggested in the help area, however still running into the same problems.

I have gone into my routers config as trodofor suggested and done that process. However pehaps I'm not doing it right in the XP firewall. When it says " open the following outgoing ports manually in your firewall" I assume that means to go to my XP firewall and hit the "add port" tab. No?

The other thing I have a question about is this. Do I need to click "add port" to each port individually? In other words, enter 47851, close, then add 47852, close, all the way up to 47860?

I find it odd as well that I always get connected to the server initially, yet either can't get into the game after the loading screen, or if I am able to get into the game, why is it that I'm able to always play with no problems for 15 min or so and always get the "please wait" icon after that amount of time.

As I said I really like the game so far, and would like to continue playing, but it's really getting to be a hassle. It could be something on my end, because God knows I'm no expert on these things, but TBH, I'm about ready to give up.

BTW; I noticed when I get this please wait icon, if I go to the connections tab, it say FS in there. Not familiar with what that means, but odd because I can still open menus and and move my PC around (although without actually moving) and I still see creatures moving around in the world. Can't chat though as I've tried to get help from other players while this was happening.

And one more thing. I've sent several requests for help while in game, but can't find anywhere to view a response.
