Ok thanks all.

I'm downloading the client now. If people really are friendly towards newbs that's all I can ask for. My only real experience with this type of game was Guild Wars, and TBH, the people were so rude I very rarely grouped with anyone and stuck to using the "henchies".

While that was OK, it wasn't much different than playing a SP RPG, so why bother?

Oh and Acridiel. Do you know who did the music in that first podcast? I'm a musician myself and found it very interesting.

You will find that besides the help available from the community in Universal chat, many mainland players have an alternate trainer on Silan to help out as well. Must of us use them to recruit for our guilds (when we're recruiting) and to just plain help out new Homins (players). The learning curve may seem steep at first but, read carefully all the mission givers say and all the pop-up boxes that appear throughout your training.
One main note, Silan is mission driven to help players understand the game. As a subscriber and on the mainland, missions become meaningless as far as rewards or loot are concerned and deal with Fame for either factions or race which offer some advantages as you progress.

This is an odd game so far! At least to me. Not bad, just different. Ya, I'm having some trouble figuring out what to do, but I like it so far.

I feel bad for the little Yubos or whatever you call them, as they come over and smell me being cute cuddly and curious, and then I......KILL EM! LOL.

I noticed the flying things and have been afraid to go after them as of yet because the cute critters already killed me a couple of times. I just went and bought some sort of new heal skill because I think I'm gonna need it!

Anyway, it's not Guild Wars, and that's a good thing.

My only issue so far is I've had a couple of problems logging in. I usually connect to the server, (but not always, sometimes get hung there and have to ctr/alt/delte out), however sometimes after 10 or 15 min. I get this icon in the middle of the screen that says "please wait", so I checked it out and obviously getting dissconnected for some reason. Odd, because I never had this problem with GW or surfing the web.

Since the servers are located in Germany, some areas have troubles with log in. However, its not a constant problem (leastwise for me on the eastcoast USA) and i think they are trying to work on it.

If the problem persists check with a CSR. Ingame do a /who gm. The reply will be in your sysinfo tab. Contact that csr via a tell (/tell <NAME>csr).

I'm on the East Coast as well. I just logged in and ran into the same problem. About 50% of the time I get stuck on the loading screen and have to ctr/alt/delete to get out.

The other 50% of the time I'm able to log in, however usually after about 15 min. I get an icon in the middle of the screen that says "please wait", however it doesn't seem to matter how long I wait as it's as yet to reconnect me even after sitting there for 10 or so minutes.

If anyone here knows of any fix I'd appreciate it. I think I'll send this along to tech support as well. Could it be my router or XP firewall? I'll try enabling the ports in the XP firewall, but seems to me that if it lets me on some of the time and not others, this would'nt be an issue, however I'm no expert.
