Hello!
I'm crashing every 5-15 minutes. As you can imagine, this is greatly reducing my enjoyment of Ryzom. The first logs were all sound crashes. I fiddled with the setting then finally turned off sound altogether.
I don't crash anywhere else but in game (that is, my computer itself isn't crashing and other applications don't crash. I have experienced application crashes with the game Vanguard, but they have a known crash to desktop bug.)

Try changing from openGL to direct 3D mode and making sure you have the latest video drivers. If that doesn't help running a memory testing utility such as Memtest to verify your system memory may be a good idea.

I have changed to Direct X - and crashed out again.
I have driver version 93.71, the latest stable version.
My memory is fine.
I've also defragged recently and run both AV and spyware cleaners weekly.

Usually if changing video mode doesn't solve crash issues we suggest lowering graphics settings. If this doesn't help any and you are running stable drivers it can be attributed to overheating.
Are the crashes connected to being in a particular region or city, or do they happen regardless of locale? It is possible you are overheating which could be easily verified or discounted if you have temp sensors and monitoring software on your computer.

Thanks Destyny. . .I'll keep an eye on the temps. I'll pull off the side and see what that does. I typically don't have heat issues because I love fans and built this with cooling in mind.
Doesn't mean it couldn't happen though especially with a graphically intense game.

Please keep us updated on the status of this issue We'd love to hear it was resolved and what the final resolution was. Even though our first steps didn't fix the problem, every time we deal with a ticket it only gives us ( and the community as a whole ) more ammo to use in the war on glitches and bugs.

I'm scratching my head. It seems that sometimes I can run Vanguard for quite awhile before winding up back at my desktop, if I do at all. Other times they build up. That feels like a crash caused by a memory leak, which that game has in quantity. I mention this because Vanguard is a very very graphically intense game, especially on the settings I use and if any thing were to cause a definitive heat related crash, that would do it. Anyway, heat issues on this Frankenstein of a machine (no two parts from the same year!) tend to be reboots and I'm not getting that.
A bad hard disk sector? A bad bit of memory that this game insists on using? The wrong brand of Corn Flakes for breakfast?
Heck, even an off setting could do it...Maybe just the presence of my sound card? No game I own likes that old thing and I need to just get rid of it.

Just two cents to check into... this worries me:
Your system seems more than primed, but if the problem exists elsewhere (other games) after "time", it might be a heat issue. I might also suggest your virtual memory appears to be "adjustable by windows", not a good default. I believe recommended performance settings can be as high as 2.5X your RAM which appears to be 2 gigs.

I'm leaning towards a bad memory module.
I have my virtual memory set at 3096 min - 4096 max.
