My 8 year old Penium 3 has kicked the bucket. I've started Ryzom and would like to continue. Former computer was maxed out (799mgz processor, 768 mb system ram) and could handle rysom with low to medium graphic settings. Geforce ti 4200 128mb ram card was very good 4, 5 years ago.
I'm planning on getting a macbook for school: 2.0 ghz processor, 2 gig ram, but the graphics are integrated__Intel gma graphics, 64MB dedicated and up to 128 from system ram I believe.
I've seen WoW being played on a Macbook on U-Tube with medium settings and no lag. I'm wondering if the processor and system ram will offset the weak graphics card and perhaps Ryzom will perform better than my old system. FAQs minimum requirements indicate 64 MB ram to be sufficient.
I'd appreciate any comments from players who've used a similar system as to the playability of Ryzom. I'd hate to give up after only a few weeks playing. I haven't been this excited about an online game since EQ first came out about a hundred years ago it seems.
Integrated graphics question
Re: Integrated graphics question
Someone may try to tell you that your system "might" work, but Intel graphics chips on a laptop won't play very many games these days. Do a forum search here and you'll probably find a more technical response.

Re: Integrated graphics question
As DoubleTap pointed out, not many integrated cards work well with modern games. I know that with intel integrated cards usually don't have enough ram to be able to support the graphics of many 3d engines.
Some players who had integrated cards experienced a message (Cannot Create Display 1024 x 768). And when using laptops it is very wise to try to get a non-integrated card such as ATi or Nvidia with at least 128 mb.
I also run Ryzom on a laptop (though I prefer my desktop) I have an external 256 mb DDR ATi card. And I need to Run ryzom at low to medium to be able to enjoy the game.
Yours.

Re: Integrated graphics question
Thanks very much for the information. Perhaps I'll go with a decent desktop for home and a less inexpensive laptop to take to school.
