Erm.. what the heck?

so an artefact is found in th PR, then what leap of logic assumes that there is an army actually equipped with similar armour about. i won't deny there is potentially hostilities with marauders, but i see no link in what was said concerning strangers and what was said about strong armour. Also there was mention of other weapons.. any details?

Now either there is an clumsy charade of my government or their is some confusion in who is the scientists. from (Duke) Rodi being suprised at new information...

he then later becomes an expert in the field...

There are rumours, but there is no actual physical threat seen, there is no armies marching across the verdant heights.. or any other region to my knowledge. So what precisly is this 'evil threat' before justifing the mass creation of goo based weaponry.

Perhaps the speech that they prepared was rushed out in a hurry and therefore had not been checked thoroughly? It also possible that there was a slip of the tongue?

Though would you be surprised? How likely is it that the government will admit that they are on the verge of being invaded? That would cause mass hysteria and panic throughout all of the people of the city.

Not necessarily. True, it can be done 'poorly'. As a whole though, I disagree on principle, if only because... if you are going to run an In Character, Roleplayed scenario, it is much more immersive if executed in an In Character, Roleplayed fashion. Granted I'd do things a little differently, but I'm not the one doing it. (example, I would not have had the Event Info announcements put up server-wide. I would have simply had the figures go around asking strange questions for a while.) *winks* If curious, I'd rather not derail this thread, so if anyone wants to discuss this feel free to pm me.

On another more serious note. I am very sceptical about what is being asked and in so far do not trust what my once great government is asking to be done. Nothing good can come from making a goo weapon. If the matisians have the knowledge to do this, maybe they are the ones to suspect for the death of another *hint hint*.

A lot of what was said didn't make sense and was very hectic. I cannot help with anything until I know more, if I help the Matisians at all.

This does happen, well AFAIK. as i was approached by Wilan without a broadcast. But having said that the only reason i knew about 'the strangers' and 'the meeting' was becuase i check this forum.

Bare in mind that there are some people who dont read the forums, who may not be 'in the right place at the right time' to have been approached by 'the strangers'. A broadcast (which happens, what? a few times a day for a few days) is (of course; IMO) the best way to put across to the whole server. A broadcast isnt exactly intrusive or disruptive to gameplay.

Another things is (as im working on my eversolittle knowledge here ) The 'event team' are the same as the CSR team, so as well as customer service they have to run an event, with most of the time one or (at best) two CSR's on, having an event homin run about for a few hours could disrupt many people's gameplay (and upset people who 'arnt into' events/RP).

[OOC]It's no coincidence they managed to find folks online that would post what they wanted in the forums and spread the word. I find it poorly planned to have an event in the middle of a workday that requires many (4000+ including normal materials for the launcher piece) obscure materials to complete with a one day turnaround. 8 GMT doesn't include many of those I play with, so it looks like part 2 will be as uninclusive as today was.[/OOC]

That may be your opinion. For my part, I'd rather be approached "out of the blue" by some homin who asks questions or gives information and later relate that to my ingame contacs, even and especially when I haven't read about it in the forums beforehand, than have a broadcast pop up every few minutes (been there, seen that).
If I were not into RP, i could just ignore the homin; "being offended" is just ridiculous.
I could not ignore a broadcast, or lots of them as there would be. I find that much more intrusive or counter-immersive than someone walking by and talking.
I trust the event team to be in right places at right times, i.e. to seek out homins, and not only one, especially if the "attempt to contact" fails.

The way I understand it is the event team are volunteers, aided by and aiding the CSR team, but that's only my impression.
I don't see your point about "disrupting people's gameplay"; as for "upsetting people who aren't into RP", would those be upset if someone dare to walk by "their" levelling spot or asked for a rez or maybe directions? Sorry, I can't seem to follow you there.


back to context:

I find it highly disturbing that the Matis government is experimenting with Goo weaponry, and that within a moment's notice all homins are called to support that, while we all know the Goo is spreading like a cancer, and responsible for horrendous mutations among homins and animals alike.
It is of course also alarming that items of foreign or at least unknown origin have been found; wouldn't the more important step be to find out more about the source of these items than to assume they are directly harmful or being used in such a way...
I hope the collected items will not be handed over without at least some clarification from the Matis government.
