Meeting the Tribes

Post by jared96 »

One of the things I have been spending some time on of late (waiting for teams to assemble or whatever) is meeting as many tribes as is convenient and maybe even getting them a bit more friendly. So doing missions as I pass or just to spend some time since I'm often doing teh killin of the things they want killed anyway, such missions may prove beneficial.

Sure would be nice for example to have that tribe by Vorkoo a bit more friendly and the cockroaches camp would be nice to hide in too.

So thot I'd create a thread to discuss tribes. Wanna know what minimum fame is so they don't kill ya (geez I don't even remember...isn't it -60),this is the place. Wanna know where can ya find the "out of camp" scouts, prospectors, patrollers, whatever who'll give ya those first missions to get ya started ?

Two things I'll post as a start:

1. If ya do missions for the "Fraiders" (west end of Scorched Corridor), it's gonna show in fanme table as "Frahars".

2. If ya do missions for "The Watchers" (camp in Flaming Forest), it gonna show up in ya fame table as the "Restorers".

I'm gonna include some old links soon to previous threads but thought it time for a fresh one on the subject since the task / process of working up fame in the tribes isn't covered very much in the other threads

Jup, the Fraider Fame is for some strange reason given as "Frahar" Fame, somone must have mixed up the names I guess. ;)

As for the Restorers, I don´t quite know... could be a similar mistake in the Fame list.

As for your other questions I can not help you, sorry. :(

I haven't touched tribe fame in over a year. I really don't see any point in it at the moment.

That last thread you linked reminded me of how it was before episode 2. Back then it was expected that the tribes would play a large role in the upcoming rites and outposts. Many players, including myself, worked to raise their fame with as many tribes as possible so that once those rites and outposts were implemented, we'd be ready for them.

But ofcourse, the rites never came, the outposts were implemented without the tribes playing any role in them, and the following fame revamp took away most of the fame we'd earned. *sigh* Since then I've looked at the tribes as nothing more than landscape filler, hoping they'll some day get some role to play (*yubo eyes at GF*).

The only significance they currently have is that their camps act as safe havens. And even that's a lot less important since the creatures don't chase you indefinitely anymore. I was happy with that change, but it does mean you can just run into any open area for safety now.

It's -50. I'm at -49 with the Watchers/Restorers and they leave me alone. The Sacred Sap at -50 are quite hostile though.

Also, the Cuzans show up as "Cute" and the Gibbads as "Gibbay". And the Barkers don't get a capital letter.

I had been wondering about the Restorers..

As someone with a character concept of a diplomat i have spent a lot of time doing missions for tribes "gaining their trust and respect", but the revised fame system made it all feel futile. Now I put enough effort in so they dont attack me on sight then pretty much leave it at that.

One thing is to do the minimum possible racial missions, thanks to the blanket/shotgun effect that has on all tribal fames within that land. Instead concentrate on tribal missions and let those raise your racial fame(s)

I was gonna say that :)

The Tribe Names swap over from time to time seems like old data gets put back in then afew patchs later corrected , theyve swapped between the two versions of their names numerous times , same thing with Fame , it swaps between giving only Fame for the Mission you take and giving Fame for that plus Allies and Enemys :/

I reported it on a ticket and Boroshi answered to look for Restorers fame....sure enough, that tribal fame was 39.

Well it's kinda a time filler for the most part. Getting a hi level team together most nites is an exercise in frustration and it be nice to have something to do.....yes, no real benefit at present, tho at one time remember having no kami / kara fame wasn't significant either. So maybe they'll be some benefit down the road. kinda like mastering all 5 regions in dig.....after ya get one to grind craft in and then PR for the good stuff, doing the other 3 regions isn't really gonna change ya life.

Well there's many spots in PR where quite often ya have about a 100m safe zone to dig with only the occassional aggro coming by. If one does tap you on back, often running brings more grief as ya pick up aggro 2 and 3 before ya can shake the original one off. The cockroaches camp in sunken city is a nice example.

Dang. That stinkie. With many tribes starting at -66 and having a cap at -50, then tehre doesn't seem to be any reason to pursue those.
Also, the Cuzans show up as "Cute" and the Gibbads as "Gibbay".
If only that were true.....imagibe getting fraider, cuzans and gibbads fame all above -49 and then those mobs never attacked you again :)

There is a decimal point that you can not see. Your display is -50, but you might have say -50.2. If you increase that fame to -50.0, they should not attack you (there may be some exceptions/bugs). Riveit has several -50 fame tribes that do not attack him. However, interlocking fame changes with races and other tribes can bring your -50.0 safety fame down again.

If it's EXACTLY -50, you're safe. But if it's even -50.000001, they will attack. The fame display rounds what you see, so you don't see the actual value. There are a few tribes that have a max of -50 for me, that still don't hate me (yet).
