Crafting question - patterns

Hey all,
I'm currently in Silan, trying to learn about skills and to find out good combination of skills to use. But I still wonder about crafting.
I've noticed that I only get crafting patterns based on my race. Does that mean I will be able to craft only my racial designs? Or will I be able to get another race patterns later?

You know, I'm pretty much fond of Zoraï, but I really despise their armor design. Granted, it's original. But it's not armor, it's rattan furniture. It's not exactly worth training crafting on my Zoraï if I can craft only Zoraï designs...

Any race can pick up the crafting paterns of any other race; given they invest skillpoints in another racial crafting line (50sp if I'm not mistaken). Racial crafting is only available from trainers in the cities of that said culture.

On Silan however, you will be stuck with only the crafting of your own race.

Yes, once you are able to travel freely about the whole of Atys you will have access to all the plans for all the races.
One special note though, each plan will cost SP to own so if your doing say Light Armor and you want to make both Zorai and Tryker LA, you will have to purchase the full set from each race plus upgrades to med quality and later High quality. Its a daunting task but, one you just might find quite enjoyable and later on profitable as well since you'll need to be skilled in harvesting in two different lands.

Thank you both for info! I suspected something like that. So, that's another incentive to move my behind to mainland ASAP.
And yes, I guess I'll enjoy it. I actually enjoy harvesting and crafting in most MMORPGs more than fighting.

One more armor question though - are there any other armor / clothing designs I can craft, aside of racial ones? For instance, I've seen rather nice Robocop-style armor in some screenshots (like here: http://www.dcpryzom.co.uk/junk/armour.jpg) - is it craftable or boss-drop only?

This look like the Boss dropped plans from our 3 NPC bosses on the mainland.
usually groups of 40 or more try to take down these bad boys.
I would take a look at the current armor line for the all the races on
Ballisticmystix.net to get an idea of the styles etc available normally.
