Unable to start game

Uninstalled/Reinstalled the game, start game, get to login screen, login, then it starts unpacking/getting files and it gets stuck at "getting file:ryzom_00610.ldx:0b/0b (0.00%) 1/1", stays there for a while then the notorious window pops up saying "ryzom encountered a problem and needs to shut down bla bla send error report". Tried the following things:

1.uninstall/reinstall (several times)
2.ipconfig/flushdns (several times)
3.added the line BackgroundDownloader=0; in the client_default.cfg file
4.changed it to BackgroundDownloader=1;
5.checked the startuphost line in the same cfg file
Nothing works, get exactly same result namely "ryzom encountered a problem and needs to shut down"

Unable to do anything.
No fix has worked for me either.
