I dont understand your point, nor agree with just about anything you say bar PvP is fun. I wont go into the millions of arguments as its been done more times than fasi has dinged master.

5/35 (ish) regions are pvp, ofc you are forced to pvp

To my astonishment I was arrested and when I went before the judge I said "Look, the laws of physics allowed me to do all those things, so PARDON ME IF I PLAY THE GAME AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED!!".
Are you comparing Real Life with a Game, or a Game with Real Life? Both things are, I'm sorry, ridiculous.

You can keep trying. But, while you use arguments like this, I'll think you have some kind of problem putting things apart.

If you want to say me that even in a game you have to accept some communities consensual rules for the good of all, I'll agree with you. I'll agree that even in a game must be some ethic, and even I'll agree that Ryzom has his own Zelgeist, if you wanna go philosophic.

But, please, please, stop to compare game with real life. It's creepy, and for some people, have been dangerous. It's not the kind of argument that makes me confortable with it.

Am I missing something here?

I dig in the lands of umbra rather often (whenever I die and spawn near a portal to there), and I have never seen these reported hordes of gankers that supposedly camp near all of the spawn points.

and the only time so far that I was slayed for having my PvP tag on, I had so sit patiently through a veritable monologue before the person in question started attacking me.

I'm sorry, but I don't share your views on the subject.

I actually agree with you Cal, about your RL comparison.

Life, real or fake, allows for just about anything to take place. But, if you live in a society, real or fake, there are just certain rules to be followed. I'm sure I've quoted this before, but "My right to swing my fist ends with your face" (or something to that effect).

I'm not sure how it is elsewhere, but in America you only have rights up until they infringe on the rights of others.

In game, one should only have rights until they start effecting the game plays of others in a horrible manner. Such, as a player needing to quit a game or change server because of the way other people are playing a game. It happens, it has happened, it is happening.

I will say though, that you are not forced to PvP ever on Atys. There are some extremists that find a way around that with aggro dragging and similar things though, so beware if you tick anyone off.

umm...how can anyone force someone else off the server or out of the game?

If you have an ignore list, and you stay out of PvP zones, there isn't much another player can do (well, aggro drag, but, that is against the CoC...although, being banned isn't as permanent as it probably should be, is it?)

By leaving you with the feeling that you cannot play the way you would like to, so that your only options are to change the way that you play, or leave.

There may be good reasons that you cannot play the way you'd like - because they infringe upon someone else's freedom to do so - and undesirable reasons - because someone else infringes upon your freedom.

...or ignore them and keep doing what you want to do.

I really can't think of any non-pvp, CoC-approved action that can't simply be ignored. If there are specifics, I would really like to read them.

extreme playstyle can be quite intimidating/annoying/upsetting for some folk...It is true the internet brings folk together that would not normally associate, and in that fact there is also the truth that we are exposed to personality traits we avoid in RL.
Leaving a game/server is the statement.."I DON'T WANT TO ASSOCIATE WITH XYZ"
Experience is essential.....Wisdom is priceless.
