On going Faction Wars

Post by framar07 »

Hi folks,

Not one to post here often at all because normally i just don't even look here but this is probably to only place that this gets a high level of people viewing it from all 3 sides.

I state all 3 sides as there are Kami/Karavan and Neutrals.

Some of you know me and i can only hope that i've given you the image of a fair and honest person/avatar.

The faction wars have got dirty - fair enough but lets ignore that for a second. Outpost wars have become almost critcial to alot of people (i know many players who are just not interested - i respect that).

What i wanted to try and bring here is a possible agreement that both waring factions agree to ie some very simple and high lvl rules of war.

I don't know your feelings about this but personally i like a nice simeple clean fight. Both sides turn up smash each other to piece's pickup whatever is left of there armour and go home.

I side wins the other loses. What i don't like are things like the counter declares & counter counter counter declares. Alot of you know my views on them and that one day the whole of Atys will be declared upon. Personally i don't want to go down this route.

I'll relate this specifically to the attack on Whirling stronghold in Loria. There where no counter declares no messing about we all turned up the Karavan smashed the Kami to piece's, you won we all went home - Great, no 3-4-5 hour battles just a nice simple & easy.

I wanted to "feel out" how both sides think about the idea of getting together and setting up say 3-4 rules of war. Both sides agree with it and if the attacker hasn't abidded by the agreement then its really very simple to make it pretty much impossible to win you just dont attend. The defenders will then massively outnumber to attacks and it should be pretty obviously who is going to win.

So here it is open to you the people who can make this happen and possible improve the enjoyment for all.

Kindest regards

Waylanda

P.S Can we keep this as constructive as possible :)

I don't think that would be effective, unfortunately. It'd be easy for the attacker to retain support by threatening to apply some kind of political or social pressure to those who don't attend.

Additionally, there will always be people on all sides who believe that if a matter of policy or courtesy isn't strictly enforced by game mechanics or CSRs, it's okay to shirk it.

The idealist in me does like, appreciate, and support the suggestion of community-decided and observed "rules of engagement" intended to preserve fun and good behaviour in relation to outpost battles. However, the rules shouldn't be too constrictive - some things are legitimate tactics, and some just annoy and frustrate the majority of those who must be involved. The distinction between tactics and irritants is difficult to define, and a potential point of fierce contention.

I'm not sure that I've spoken to you about this before. I know I have thought about it at least.

While, it is an honorable idea. I dont see it happening. You were right when you said the wars were getting dirty. And they are, therefore I dont see some abiding be rules, or even agreeing to set up rules.

If we want to make OP wars boring, sure, we can set some rules.

If you want something "honourable" we can make pvp tournament instead of declaring, which side wins, can keep/take op :) Nah, it will never happen....

[OT]
P.S. Before someone will accuse other side using "false declarations or counter declarations" - remember that both sides done this. Using "dishonourable" tactic because "they used it first" or "because we are losing badly" and yelling on forums how bad they are and how good we are not making anyone "honourable". Lets not start another boring flame who is better, kami or kara.

first rule : no taunting/insulting the opponents. It's ok to tease someone just for a laugh but sometimes you don't know when to stop. Then everyone gets p***ed off and the chats get dirty.

The idea is not t make OP battles boring its to try and make this more fun stopping some of the messing about which is currently going on.

I look at it from both side the KA want a real battle and you where disappointed at Loria this has come from a few people within the KA whom i know and have told me how they felt and there people felt.

There are many ways we could go about this we could setup dozens of rules which would make it just silly to be honest, however 3-4 rules of engagment (much better choice of words there) would just keep things at a sensible state.

Yes the CSR's do police somethings however its not always easy for them to do so.

A few of the rules i can think of off the top off my head are as follows;
No TP camping
No Counter Declares at the same times as defences
Definately no smack talk

most of these are already covered by the CSR's however i do believe that if each Guild Leader took the responsiblity of there members ie if one of there people smack someone in region to have a word with that person they would be less likely to do it again. Most members at least respect there Guild Leader's and are not likely to go against them more than once.

I'm just thinking that if we take this into our own hands we can have more fun than what the current situation is allowing for either side.

Hope this helps and sorry for another massive message :)

Waylanda

P.S - I full understand that this is something which is going to be hard to setup due to its nature of envolving alot of people. But we lose nothing for trying

I would like to see some rules regarding OPs. I find it personally distateful some of the behaviors I've witnessed. I do believe OPs can be fought for with honor.-Kil

facts are both sides at somepoint played it dirty to go over all that again would be pointless.
But to show what a great community we still have here i see no reason why a general rules of combat could not be thrashed out.

you will never please everyone but then thats not the issue as you just need to please the majority i for one have enjoyed the first weekend off from battles feels like a holiday to me lol.
